We asked for dining recommendations at a local attraction, and the only restaurant she was familiar with was Tortuga Jacks.

We waited an hour and 15 minutes before being seated. Food was okay. The staff was friendly. There was some cute decor and I could see the beach from where I was sitting. Outdoor seating wasn’t available.

The best spot on Jekyll Island for great margaritas and beach view. They also have live music but not sure on which days. Def sit on the bar if you can find a spot there. House margs are cheap here considering being on an island and they don’t give you hangover the next day. The food are typical chain Mexican food, not authentic but they are good.

Ok, this place has gone downhill, and I should have asked to speak to management. So my granddaughter only eats plain hamburger patty, I asked our waiter (Taddy R) if I could buy just a patty, and he said sure. It came out a meal then said sorry, ok. Then we asked for a small bowl so i could separate the cheese between the 2 grands. He brings another bowl of queso, another, sorry. My husband asked him about grilled onions on his burger, no problem, they were raw, so the waiter got him grilled. The check came, and he was charged 2.99 for the onions. Again, he said sorry about that. My taco salad was not good. I asked for salsa to put over my dry salad, and he charged another 1.99, and the shell had a funny taste. My grandsons nachos were not worth it, and it was very plain. And he charged 3.50 for a child’s drink. Our waiter Taddy R should have been more informative. Yesterday, I just didn’t feel like discussing with management. I will not go back. Just pay attention and ask questions. I noticed that whoever responds to the reviews does not respond to the bad reviews, typical.

We come here often, and every time, it’s always been a good idea! This time, we grabbed a bite to eat after spending a few hours swimming and relaxing on the beach, so we chose to take advice out their outside eating area. Unfortunately, we were done right before the live music was scheduled to play…

Recently visited Tortuga Jack’s on Jekyll Island with my wife and our two little ones, having heard quite a bit about it. While the beachside location offers a decent view, I must admit, we left feeling underwhelmed. We hoped for a relaxed family meal, but the ambiance didn’t quite match our expectations, and with two kids in tow, the overall experience mattered. The menu seemed promising with its Baja Mexican offerings, but the flavors didn’t quite hit the mark for us. Service was alright, but as parents, we’ve seen places more attuned to families with young children. Given the chatter about Tortuga Jack’s, maybe we just caught them on an off day.

Great place to eat! We stopped on our Jekyll Island bike ride, and loved it. Good environment, great staff, live music on a Tuesday afternoon. Highly recommend!

While riding bikes on Jekyll we ran into Tortuga Jacks on the beach-side trail, just as we needed to stop for a drink of water. The lanai tiki bar was the perfect stop. Overlooking the dunes, a perfect breeze was blowing as we ate our complimentary tortillas and salsa. We added a great tasting guacamole do as well. Had we driven or decided to visit closer towards evening a cocktail or margarita would have been a perfect match for the atmosphere. Since we’re we’re parched from riding bikes a club soda sufficed.

Love the atmosphere and the location. We went on a Wednesday night for an earlier dinner, we got a seat right away in the tiki area and got our food very quickly. The view is beautiful and even though it was hot out it was breezy and we stayed cool. Our server was polite but pretty slow getting back to us and we had to wait a really long time to order then again to get our check. The food was okay. My kids are not picky and always finish their food-however here none of them finished. My teen ordered chili cheese fries and said they were the worst she has ever had, tasted like they dumped a can of chili sauce on top. My son ordered the kids nachos with chicken and the chicken did not taste good, he said he didn’t really like them. My other teen ordered nachos which were okay but really lacked on toppings so she ended up with mostly a basket of chips. My fish tacos were okay, but not the greatest and my rice was dry-my husband didn’t even eat his rice. Prices were a bit high for a Mexican place especially when we ended up not even eating half our food. We did enjoy the atmosphere and the live music.
