Lashed Out
I absolutely love soul food unfortunately this was not it for us. However, I will review on the positive side as there always is more good than bad. First, I love the name and it’s reference, a cherished honor to the family. We had two orders of the Brown Sugar Meatloaf, love the name as it definitely caught my tastebuds! The sweetness atop of the meatloaf is perfect and it keeps you coming back for another bite! Although, the density of the meatloaf is just that, way too dense, needed more flavor in the meat. It’s very heavy even for my hubby and he can eat! Mashed potatoes was nice and smooth. The yellow rice was parboiled, I’m just not a fan of parboiled as it’s more difficult to flavor and it needed more flavor. The corn was again, not flavorful, maybe boiled, buttery corn on the cob instead. The fries would’ve been great if they were cut fresh or a different type of cut. I will say the potato salad was very good AND the BAKED BEANS was the best in our order! The beans had a hint of cinnamon in it which gave it that EXTRA FLAVOR that sets them apart if you enjoy baked beans like I do. I’m bias with baked beans and potato salad as I believe I make the best, lol! Charge extra on those beans! We visited on a weekday and everything that we really wanted was sold only on Soul Food Sunday, that’s cool though. Each weekday has a different set of dishes and I love that! I would enjoy if they made dishes that did not contain pork (like the beans or collard greens). I tried the Red Velvet Cake and it was really DELICIOUS!!! I will definitely give it another try but on a Sunday!!! The prices are inexpensive and they give you plenty of food. If some of the dishes could be improved, I say charge $20 for every plate! Just because it’s in Ft. Pierce does not mean the prices should be low, raise them up. Everyone here was very nice and sociable, definitely felt like family. Can’t wait to try another dish!

Traveling from Charleston, SC. Love to support Black Businesses this is the one! The experience was amazing. I only saw one cashier and the owner. They still managed to get my $60 order in and out in 30 minutes. The customers was coming in like crazy and I still don’t think anyone had a long wait. I wanted they FAMOUS PEACH COBBLER CHEESECAKE CONE but they just sold out in the past 5 minute prior to my arrival so we got red velvet cake. They had alot of different desserts. We enjoy our meal but pork chops was our favorite; it was cooked to perfection!!! The manager checked on us multiple times and he greeted everyone. Very customer originated, professional and pleasant.

Tried this restaurant in Fort Pierce for the first time last month and absolutely loved it! We came a little late, about an hour or so before the restaurant closed, but the food was still very fresh and the service was awesome! The owners are such nice people and I really appreciate the kind service. I would definitely recommend Nunu’s to anyone looking for fresh and tasty soul food in the Treasure coast area. We had their peach cobbler, fish nuggets, fried chicken, Mac & cheese and fried okra, I definitely recommend it. Nunu’s will be my go to spot for soul food, when in the area.

We just bought food here for the first time and I am beyond disappointed. I have NEVER went to a restaurant and paid for a plate of that was almost EMPTY!!! The pictures show that there is literally barely any food in the plate. That is beyond disrespectful and absolutely not worth the price. The taste of the food isn’t too bad but at least putting a good amount of rice can make a plate look fuller. These are the very small plates and yet it’s still very empty. I am beyond dissatisfied.

We liked it. Clearly requires knowledge of the elders to prepare the way they do. Not over seasoned but flavorful to still taste the main dish. They do that well. Will be back. I want to dive into the ox tail special. They were out of that so we got the brown sugar brisket as a alternate. Was great.

The food was really good! The lobster bites &shrimp with Mac & cheese were well seasoned. The staff was friendly as well. Would have loved to try the oxtail beef patty’s and the peach cobbler, but they didn’t have any the day I went. When I come back to town, I will try again.

Pictures are deceiving. I ordered brown sugar meatloaf nothing brown sugar about this meatloaf . This was pure ketchup poured on top. Bake beans were dry straight out the can no brown sugar, no nothing added to spice these beans up. Collard greens taste old and the meatloaf was dry taste like straight hamburger meat. Photos taken on IG is definitely not the same. Customer service lady was nice but the food was a disappointment.I played it safe with my little one and got him chicken wings and fries. Same disappointment poured bbq sauce all over the wings. All these so called soul food spots in Fort Pierce is a straight disappointment. If you want good authentic soul food you have to take a drive to Miami for some good food.
