This is my second time to stop here on my way to Fredericksburg. Both times the food has been amazing. If you are in a hurry skip because they take their time preparing everything from scratch so if you can slow down and wait you will be treated with some really good eats.

I got the small chicken fried steak and it was delicious and huge! I can’t imagine the optional large portion. The crust was crunchy and seasoned well and the gravy was spot on. Fried okra came out hot and crispy. I’m just traveling through but so glad I stopped. Texas continues to surprise this northeastern guy.

Great stop in LLANO. We were northbound from Kerrville. Good menu and service. Cat is a jewel. Hamburgers were incredible. Homemade brioche buns. Yum. They didn’t survive long enough for pictures. Sorry. Really good fried Okra!!! Do not forget to get the peach cobbler, big enough for two normal people or one professional cobbler eater. This is peach country.

The fried catfish basket was awesome!! Batter was perfectly crisp and catfish was tender and juicy! My husband had the chicken fried steak and he said it was one of the best he has had! Waitress was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back when we are in the area!

The food was really good. They have gluten free buns that are amazing! We were greeted quickly and our server Dawson was very attentive and friendly. The cute general store in the corner adds charm. Highly recommend.

The restaurant decor is really nice; very charming cowboy atmosphere. We had the fish basket a couple of months ago and it was delicious. However this time the coating was oversalted and had a sand like texture, but it was the best part of the meal! The french fries were awful, limp and undercooked not at all crispy, the slaw was limp and not fresh( was it yesterday ‘s or did it sit in a bowl for hours?). Our waitress never offered to refill our iced tea, and never asked if everything was ok . She only came to our table

So, after our first visit, I’ll say that the Reuben with sweet potato fries was phenomenal. The chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes were decent, but not on the level of the Reuben. The coconut cream pie was not very good, though, so I’ll skip that one next time. One request is that I’d love to see them carry one or two craft beers, even if they try something new when the current ones sell out. Just something outside of the standard box breweryBud/Miller/Coors/Shiner/Modelo beers would be a welcome addition.

I had the Signature Meatloaf which came with three generous slices. I like to judge the flavor without gravies or sauces so request for them on the side. The meatloaf tastes fine and is obviously made in-house. The mashed potatoes were real also; I suspect they make most of their entrees and sides in-house. Prices are reasonable. Nice atmosphere in a historic building. We weren’t disappointed.
