The Mexican restaurant was very nice. The staff very friendly, service was a lil delayed may be due to staff numbers low. Food was excellent if could make it better I would add some salt and spices but it was authentic Mexican so it was tasty . Ambiance was good, the restaurant is like a cave a long line of tables. Over all it was a good experience of Mexican food and recommend families if you like Mexican food.

An unassuming exterior hides a cozy atmosphere and some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. The menu is long and varied, and the prices are completely worth it for the large portions you will get. I personally recommend their tamales, which are densely packed with perfectly cooked chicken and covered in a hearty red sauce with cheese. If you’re ever in downtown Urbana and need something to eat, go to Tres Nopales. I promise you and your family will not regret it!

I’m not a salsa guy, but I LOVED the salsa they set out with the chips. Their rice is also so delicious next time I go I’m ordering extra rice just to have more. Got the server’s suggestion on enchiladas and was so happy with it. Been a few weeks since I went and I’m still thinking about it. I’m gonna a need to be back soon!

First time eating here. The Tortilla Soup was the best I have ever eaten. Just fantastic!!! They added chopped onions, cilantro, chip straps, cabbage and sliced radishes on a side dish that you can add to the soup! The Enchiladas were good. Highly recommend!! Authentic Mexican Food!!

This place was not what I was expecting. The food was delicious and very authentic. Being from Chicago and Mexican, I am very picky with my Mexican food but this place tastes like the good stuff back home. I recommend the guacamole and Mexican style tacos. The rice is authentic and I can tell they take their time preparing it. There are actually peppers and tomatoes in the rice like it should be. I personally think this is better Mexican food than maiZe and huaraches. There are also a bunch of vegetarian options. The service was also great and the restaurant is adorable and very cozy! I will be going back.

At Tres Nopales, the food and service were excellent. Chino made the experience wonderful by responding to my questions and suggesting some delicious dishes. The atmosphere was really calm and pleasant. I am eager to return! Tres Nopales has become a new fave for sure.

I’ve been sort of aware of this restaurant for a while, but hadn’t paid much attention until randomly happening to park on the upper deck of the Urbana parking garage a few weeks ago and catching some of the kitchen smells wafting up from behind the building. Went there tonight for the first time with the family (me, my wife, and 12- and 14-year-old kids) and it was everything those smells suggested it would be. The two young guys running the front of the house were charming and attentive, and the food was spectacular — some of the best Mexican I’ve had in a while. The kids both had tamales (one red, one green sauce) and they loved them; flavorful, tender, light and fluffy. My wife had a fajita burrito that was absolutely perfect, and I devoured my enchiladas verdes (which was no small feat because the plate was enormous). Seriously one of the best meals I’ve had in town in a while. I can’t wait to go back.
