I highly recommend ordering the chicken and mixed veggies as it was delicious. Im coming back to Truant’s Tavern just for the chicken entree. I really enjoyed my visit to Truant’s Tavern. We were lucky enough to catch dinner here while a fantastic musician played, Justin Jaymes. This guy is really talented so I hope they ask Justin to come back and play more frequently. I really enjoyed the food I ordered while one person in our party did not like the buffalo Mac and cheese that he ordered.

We waited for four burgers around 40 minutes. It seemed quite long for us especially in the time crunch what we had. Burgers itself were tasty – meat perfectly executed (little bit seasoning would help), bun average. Overall nice place.

I ordered take out from this place and got some delicious burgers. It was weird finding the place though, it’s in a basement of another restaurant and the signs aren’t too good. When I pulled up, the lights were off in the you’re restaurant and there was a closed sign. At first I didn’t think I was in the right spot. But I followed a little sign that pointed the entrance out and it was fine after that.

Great date! Midday Monday. Relaxed and enjoyable environment! The bar staff, Kayla and Halina (sp?), were accommodating and very sweet. Our bar mates were from out of state and seemed to be thoroughly enjoying their time as well! Laughs and good times were had by all. Staff included! Very funny and relatable. The food was pretty tasty as well. Loved this place! Thank you!!

Driving by, not looking for a place to eat, you’d easily miss this neat bistro. The Clam Chowder, like every restaurant in New England, is homemade and delicious. It’s a little lemony and salty, so it may not be to your taste, but you should try it. The burger was excellent! And their Chilli was very good, too. The sandwiches were made with Boar’s Head meats, so they were very good. All the veggie stuff (on sandwiches, etc.) was fresh. The onion rings were very delicious and NOT greasy (unlike most) – that’s pretty hard to pull off.

This place desperately needs Gordon ramsey, the burger was burned the clam chowder was just soup, the toast was harder then a rock, the gravy on the chicken looked like cheese and didn’t taste like either this is just depressing, the fries were pretty okay though.

I really hope that our last two visits were due to being off season. This is a frequent stop for us. The quality has gone down hill as of the last year or so. The fried chicken used to be great, but the order I got the last time was over breaded, greasy and over cooked. My wife got the clam chowder, it was warm on top, but cold the rest of the way through. It did have lots of clams and the flavor was good. The fried pickles were good. The kids love them. The Mac and cheese was ok, and the fish and chips were good. We went for lunch, and it felt like we got reheated food from the night before. We will try again.

I hate to leave negative reviews but this was the worst restaurant we have ever been to. We walked in and were seated relatively quickly, but it seemed like we were forgotten about after we were seated. We weren’t greeted by our server for at least 15 minutes. When he finally showed up we put in drink orders and heard him apologizing to the table behind us about the wait. We turned to ask them how long they had been there since they didn’t have their food yet. They informed us that they had been there for almost 2 hours and that we should leave before ordering food. As they explained this to us, the waiter returned and took our food order. Another 30 minutes went by and we asked the server if it would be out within 10 minutes considering we had somewhere to be. The manager then came over, offering to take 10% off and said that our food would be right out. This left us with less than 10 minutes to eat before we had to leave. When we finally got the food we were informed they were out of mashed potatoes, which was the reason we ordered meatloaf. The food was nothing special, the meatloaf looked questionable and the baked potato that we subbed in for it was still crunchy. When we finally left the table behind us still didn’t have their food. Would not recommend. We will not be returning.

Didn’t get to sample much except the appetizer of fried pickles and jalapenos, and then had a cup of soup and half a sandwich. The honey wheat bread is amazing!! Seems to be their staple. Reasonable prices. Was a slow night when we went but the bartender stayed and talked with us, and it was his first night but he seemed to be enjoying himself already, so I think that says good things about the atmosphere.

This place is small and little dark. Prices and portions don’t match. We stopped in just for appetizers and spent over thirty dollars for three items. I ordered unsweetened ice tea, what I got was murky and tasted like muddy water. Our onion rings we’re under seasoned and cold. The only reason I gave any stars was the awesome fried pickles.
