disappointed…. I love HEB, and BBQ. but this was terrible. There’s no way this was actually smoked only. its so tough and rubbery. It’s been put in a steamer or microwave. the taste is blah. Burnt ends are just brisket tips covered in peppery ketchup. And the Fatty brisket, how did you manage to make it so dry? seriously!!! i also ordered a small amount of the lean. I havent touched it yet. I’m afraid to. its gonna be like jerky. This stuff is also expensive for grocery store bbq.

I’ll preface my review by saying this. The BBQ spot is inside of a grocery store, there are expectations no matter where you go to eat. That being said don’t expect anything like Hard 8 BBQ or Rudy’s, etc. For an extension of a grocery store, the food is very solid, employees inside were very nice, and in my opinion it’s a very nice option to have after a busy shopping trip.

I would agree that it is a nice bbq option if you’re shopping around lunchtime or in the area. I had the chopped brisket sandwich and it was good – not the best ever but certainly good. Service was friendly and quick and everything was pretty clean given I stopped by at the end of lunch. The Texas sauce with a kick is quite good.

Lean moist brisket. Rub is on the spicy side but that’s the way I like it! They are slow when taking orders but once they take your order, you get your food fairly quickly. Employees were nice. Priced about the same as other area BBQ places.

The barbecue stuffed baked potatoes were amazing. We got the sauce brisket one and the pulled pork one and the meat on both was really good. They have a large selection of teas and lemonade sodas and beer. We got banana pudding and peach cobbler for dessert and both were really good. The potato salad was okay I prefer mustard potato salad. We waited in line for about 15 minutes but it was totally worth it because the food was delicious and we all left with full tummies and big smiles . I’ve been recommending it to everyone I see

The brisket was extremely salty which I didn’t think was too bad, but others found it to be way too salty and could not finish eating it. I really liked the Mac and cheese but also had the same issue with it being way too salty for others to eat. The beans were okay. Cornbread was also ok but extremely buttery and they placed it on the side in the bag so now I have butter all over my car. Overall I don’t think it was too bad because I am quite fond of salty food; but, if you are someone who doesn’t like really salty food this is definitely not the BBQ place for you.

Don’t believe the hype. Mediocre at best. Brisket is not Texas style in any way. Texas style is dry rub this tasted like it soaked in sauce before. H‑E‑B pay attention true Texas BBQ brisket has no sauce!! If you want sauce you add after. The sauce also was not good that was on it, you have better sauce on the shelves of your grocery store. Taste was not that great. Also had the strawberry cobbler, taste was good, however no crust at all, and wasn’t cold, warm or hot. It was slightly colder than room temp. With that said it is questionable that they are keeping food in proper temperatures. Would not try it again, would not recommend. We are in Texas so many better places around for your barbecue needs. With all of the good options of prepared food by HEB their bbq is the worst option you can go with.

1hr total time to receive our food. It was a 40min wait to the register, as the line was out the door. One person at the register and 1 delivering food. I asked if BBQ sauce was in the bag, they said yes. I got home to find it was not included. The list of reviews below are confirmed. TERRIBLE! Each reply from management below indicates they know there are problems, yet they do not step in to improve the processes for their customers OR their staff. HEB could take page from the Chick-Fil-A service playbook. Don’t waste your time here. HARD 8 BBQ is a much better experience.
