I finally had the opportunity to try H-E-B’s barbecue place. After having to wait on a fairly long line with only one person taking orders and the self-service tablet not functioning, I got the chance to order with a very friendly, nice person. I ordered the two meat plate plate and substituted Texas tornado for one of the meats, at an extra cost. The cashier asked me if I wanted pickles, onions, and bread and I only accepted the pickles and onions. Check out the picture of the pickles and onions, later. The store uses plastic forks and spoons which is a big problem if you try to eat at Texas tornado. My suggestion is if you order one, bring your own metal fork and your own metal knife because the plastic ones break as the picture below will show you. The Texas tornado is very tough and not very tasty. It’s obviously an attempt to copy a local Texas BBQ legend side, but doesn’t come close. I also noticed that the tables were not cleaned after each customer. The restaurant was quite busy and it was odd to see HEB employees taking their lunch breaks at the restaurant but not eating the barbecue. In conclusion, glad I got to try it but not going back.

Very Slow Service. They don’t take Apple Pay, or wallet, and I didn’t know this until after I waited in line for 30 minutes. They told me I could order online, but wouldn’t get started on my order. By the time I got the app downloaded to order online, it was 9:01, and I couldn’t place the order, so there goes 45 minutes of my life. I came back a week later, and the self-order screen locked up, and 5 people walked in front of me before I could get anyone’s attention to let me order. The food really was terrible, and way overpriced. Ribs were rubbery and undercooked. Turkey tasted old and dry. Rice was very dry. Brisket was really unremarkable, and flavorless. Asked for 4 piece of bread, onions, and jalapeños and they gave me 2 pieces of bread, and no condiments.. The only good thing was the mac and cheese. I threw away everything else, because my dogs wouldnt even eat it. Wasted $28.00

Absolutely love their BBQ. I was a Hutchins patron, but this is incredible!! I can’t believe this is at a grocery store! I’ve been 3 times since opening, and this place not only holds their own as having outstanding BBQ, it’s less expensive than Hutchins, and the same quality.. My family loves it (and it’s only a 3 minute’s drive). Spicy BBQ is awesome, too. Fridays can be a little busy, so bring your patience, because this place is worth it!!

Saids that it’s ‘True Texas Barbecue !’, not sure where in Texas that they learned to cook this type of Barbecue? This is the absolute WORST Barbecue that we have ever had. So bad we couldn’t eat the meat ordered. So bad the last worst Barbecue I rated low gained a star. At least it was Barbecue we got outside of Texas while traveling. Sugest you try one of the other many True Texas Barbecue places that is really Texas Barbecue! Don’t think they will be around long anyway, Texans tend to be real picky about the Barbecue that they eat. I will say the sides were pretty good, call it two stars and we’re able to eat sides and dessert.

Great tasting food. Generous amounts for the price. Slow service and inaccurate orders. Three out of three times the orders have been incorrect. I’ve gone at different times, different days, it was not packed, but my order is still not correct.

Went opening week and had a small dilemma but the customer service was outstanding and they took care of us and made it right. Brisket is super tender, beans, Mac and cheese, cornbread and greens are outstanding!

Great BBQ at a fair price! Love the drive thru for convenience and it’s fairly efficient too. Nice to have here in McKinney, and much more affordable than Hutchins.

We were excited to try the HEB BBQ. It was all delicious! I’m pretty picky about cole slaw and really liked it. The kids LOVED the mac & cheese.
