Mike is not just a chef but an artist. I have never seen such passion from a sushi chef before. The details he puts in the entire experience was something I’ve never had before at omakase. The fact that his sushi rice has to be used within 45 minutes and if it’s longer than that he will throw it away. I could literally taste every grain of the rice. The fish itself were so fresh and well prepared. This was a super intimate setting with 8 seats only. If you get the opportunity to score a reservation, don’t miss out. It’s something you’ll probably see once.

There are already many reviews about the quality of sushi that Chef Michael prepares.

The best omakase experience you’ll ever have – so good that all other places you try omakase will be ruined by this experience. Chef Mike is amazing. Omakase is an art and that’s exactly how Chef Mike treats it. He is so passionate about what he does and is extremely well trained in this art. This is where you need to go for a traditional and authentic Japanese experience.

This was the best dining experience I’ve not to mention the best sushi I’ve ever had. Mike is an artist, excellent host and am amazing chef. It’s an amazing deal for what you get too!

Overall, great sushi and wonderful experience. Keep in mind this is edomae style so the chef takes a more traditional (Tokyo-origin) approach to the fish and the rice.

Best sushi experience I’ve had. Chef Mike is a character, but his preparation of his fish and rice is no joke. It is all so simple, and so so delicious…. Trust me, you want to go. Just know that it’s not going to be for at least 4 months.

Simply superb!!! If there is a traditional Japanese omakase place you need to try in Texas, this is the place! Chef Mike abides by the principles of Edomae where he uses the freshest fish from Toyosu and takes the time and care to bring out the umami flavors by aging it. He brings out the hidden flavors that you can’t have if you just simply eat a piece of fresh fish. His red vinegar for the rice, akazu 赤酢, is also sourced from Japan and it’s the same vinegar chef Jiro and Nakazawa use. I lived in Japan for ten years and have dined at numerous locally famous sushi restaurants in Tokyo and the US and I’ve to say chef Mike is one of the best! If you find yourself fortunate enough to get a seat, you are in for an exceptional Edomae style experience. Every dish was amazing in preparation, presentation and umami! The egg custard tamago at the end was the best I’ve ever had. Thank you chef Mike for such an unforgettable meal. Totally worth the drive from Dallas! We will be back 🙂

The passion and skill that Chef Michael displays is unparalleled in Austin. Every grain is paired perfectly with a sliver of fresh fish and both melt in your mouth full of flavors you haven’t experienced before. We will visit again and again as long as we can acquire reservations to this intimate venue.

This place still has that mom and pop feel, it’s not stuffy, although the food is spectacular. Rest assured every single bite is superb, the “prescriber” is one of the most thoughtful human beings. The dining experience is intimate and guided by a wonderful host, no other experience like it in Austin.
