With high-quality made-to-order burgers, a ‘come as you are’ environment and a strange reverence for Chuck Norris, there’s no place else quite like Twisted Root. Way back before ‘gourmet burgers’ was a thing, Chefs Jason Boso & Quincy Hart decided to build a restaurant around half-pound, fresh ground burgers with a menu that allowed customers to build their own burgers with a list of crazy and inventive toppings. The two met in culinary school, after jobs in stock brokerages and telephone line repair. After paying their dues working the line at The Four Seasons & Pappas Bros, Jason & Quincy finally opened Twisted Root Burger Co. in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas in 2006.

Took my dad here for Father’s Day and it was amazing! We’d never been to this location and enjoyed that they still had their actors/actresses/characters as their table call outs when your order was ready. Iykyk! Their burgers hit the spot with yummy flavors and sides of fries. We also had root beer floats which was great because you got to make it by adding fountain root beer. Fun atmosphere both inside and outside. We enjoyed a round of Cornhole outside before heading out.

Really cool look to this place. Interior and exterior are nice. Good is good. Had pizza … the pizza was delish but was wet underneath so hard to pick up and enjoy. The vegetation burger and regular burger was great.

The pizza was disappointing. It was under cooked and soggy. The burger and fries were great. I wouldn’t do the texas toast on the burger it made it really dry, it was more normal toast than texas toast. We sat outside and the weather was great. But the area we sat had a bad sewer smell so we had to move.

I used to loved this place. Used to have great burgers. Went today and got a cheese burger. Had no flavor but that was not the problem, The meat was way under cooked at least 3/4 was red meat. About 1/4 of it was browned. I did talk to management and they told me oh it was cooked right that’s how we cook it. They hadn’t even looked at my burger which was way undercooked. I’m okay with a thin line of pink that’s okay but red no I’m not okay with that. I suggested that they should ask people how they want their Burger cooked and the manager I guess she just walked away and didn’t say anything else. So if you want to raw hamburger I guess this is your place. I will not be back.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is outstanding! The food was excellent with high-quality ingredients. The presentation of the food was immaculate. Imagine going to a restaurant and the food looks like it does in the pictures, Twisted Root has that level of presentation! The fried greenbeans and carrots were an unexpected twist and very delicious! They also have a great sense of humor in all of their decor as well. Overall, I have a great experience, I will come here every time I visit Plano.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Restaurant was hot inside. It is 100 degrees in Texas turn down the air below 80. My burger was good. My wife’s chicken salad was very salty she didn’t eat hardly any. I like twisted root. This time not so good.

I stopped coming to twisted Root a couple years ago because of a couple bad experiences with the location that used to be an Allen next to the movie theater. I decided to give it another chance of this location and I was not disappointed. Very good food and a very courteous staff. Bison burger always is impressive and their french fries are absolutely amazing. This place is pet friendly and allows dogs on the back patio which is a very large space with some games on it. Thank you and I’ll be coming back again!

Absolutely loved this environment. The way this location is designed was very appealing. Because of the heatwave, we didn’t get a chance to sit in the outdoor area but, it does look very well put together. The food was spot on and delicious. Definitely shows that the staff care what is sent out. And the shakes were delicious!!
