Somewhat disappointing take on a modern ramen joint. We stopped in for a midweek lunch, and the counter person was very polite and helpful. I ordered a miso ramen with some typical add-ons (chashu, tamago, etc.), and we looked for a table to sit down at. The place was empty, but most tables were still dirty and sticky, so we had to switch spots a couple times. When the ramen arrived, it somehow just looked off. Normally miso broth is cloudy and rich, this seemed watery and separated. The noodles were very similar to what you’d find in a packet of Top Ramen, and the tamago (egg) was still cold and liquid in the center. I will give credit to the chashu; the pork was thick and fatty, and was probably the only thing that stood out. The overall flavor profile seemed more like a generic attempt at ramen, rather than the genuine article.

Another amazing place to stop by if you are looking to experience authentic Asian food in Maine! Great staff and equally charming ambiance.

Is you enjoy flavorless broth, this will be your favorite place to be. 5 of us went to dinner here and we all got something different, each meal was absolutely disappointing. There’s nothing Umami about it. The dining area is run down and nothing to write home about.

Extremely disappointed that I drove 30 minutes out of my way to find that they closed early. If businesses are going to close early, they should update hours on Google. I’m sure I’m not the only one who relies on hours shown on Google. Great food. But time is money. I may or may not ever return

Good choices, staff, and atmosphere. A good place to go with groups of any kind. Kinda cold during winter but the hot soup warms you up quickly. It’s fast and not super expensive. Overall a good experience. (The pictures are from after we dug into our delicious meal)

The noodles bowls were just ok. A little lacking!! But the scallion pancakes, IDK? What the hell are those things? You need an extra set of teeth to eat them.

Pretty cool Japanese style noodle bar, the only distraction was the hard rock music. I’m a big classic rock fan myself but it was a bit weird and almost jarring. Am I being too picky for expecting asian music in an Asian restaurant? The food is excellent though and portions are generous. Not exactly the cheap ramen you get at the supermarket, it’s at least ten bucks for a bowl of soup, but it’s a nice overall experience.

After I couldn’t get soup delivered from my favorite Italian place I decided to give Umami a try. I was not disappointed! The chicken and pork broth was so flavorful, the udon noodles had the perfect bounce to them, toppings were on point and the gyoza were *chefs kiss* delicious! Will definitely be back.

Amazing food with large portions! Flexible create your own bowls. Small selection for things besides noodles and under renovation when I visited but atmosphere was still nice and service was quick! Definitely coming back!

This is easily the worst Ramen I’ve ever had. Whoever is cooking ( if you can call it cooking ) should be ashamed of themselves. Undercooked noodles, flat flavorless broth, chicken in a Tonkatsu dish ? and PHO toppings in Ramen?. Anyone who eats here is never going to understand how great Ramen is. The place is disrespectful to Asian cuisine and should either greatly improve or close. And don’t blame the pandemic on this one… ‍♂️ ‍♂️ ‍♂️
