Onigiri, baby. My brother,my nephew, myself. Three different boys, three different Onigiri. This time in Springfield. Springfield, Springfield, Springfield, USA, thank you. Strange interior. A fireplace? Anyway. Pleasant enough and more than pleasing in the afternoon sun. I would come back here. Nice people hard at it.

I’ve been here several times. The food, service and cleanliness of the place is inconsistent at best. I order the same garlic tofu plate and it’s different every single time. It’s amazing every once in a while which has kept me coming back but after last nights dinner it’s over. Sometimes you go in and it is CC only, sometimes it’s cash only and now there is a new sign up stating they can only accept cash tips. Apparently they have new to go containers so last night I came home with enough plastic to fill a landfill. The menu online is not the real menu nor are the prices correct. This place could be as amazing as the two locations in Eugene but they just aren’t. It’s like they can’t make their mind up about anything.

Ume Grill in Springfield is fantastic! My non-profit contacted the store for catering for 50 people with less than two days notice, and they happily accepted our request. Ron arranged for us to pick up the order before the store was even open in order for us to get it to the hungry teachers at Agnes Stewart Middle School in time for their lunch breaks for a Teacher Appreciation Week luncheon!

Absolutely fantastic! I’d never been here before, so I got a range of different onigiri as well as the miso-butter salmon, coconut shrimp, and garlic edamame. The shrimp was good, especially the mango dipping sauce, as was the edamame. The miso-butter salmon was slightly sweet, but not cloyingly overpowering, and was well-cooked, with a side salad that had a ton of variety and a delicious tahini dressing that made for a great accompaniment.

2nd time there. Only tried again because our son said it’s decent. I won’t be back. Staff was nice but admittedly distracted. Got the chicken fried rice and pot stickers to go. Whole car smelled of burnt sesame oil. Guess what dinner tasted like? Yup. Burnt sesame oil. We were seriously the only customers and yet our simple fried rice was burnt fried rice with WAAY too much sesame oil. (And I truly like sesame oil) pot stickers weren’t anything different than I could do with frozen Costco potstickers. Staff was friendly but I will never go back again.

We ordered chicken teriyaki this evening. The chicken was room temperature and the rice was not fully cooked. I believe they gave us brown rice instead of the standard white rice that should have came with the order.
