Food was incredible. Ambiance is good, but it will feel a lot like many other places.

This place was the best sushi experience of my 55 year old life, and I have been eating sushi in CA since 1992.

Umi offers luxury dining, which can be intrusive at times. Someone was always coming to the table, rearranging plates, glasses and napkins. Wait staff tells you the chef’s recommendation on how to “properly enjoy” each dish, lending to a micromanaged feel. The dining space is also incredibly dark and loud, which makes intimate conversation difficult. That said, the dishes were coursed well, so we didn’t get too full too quickly. And the foie gras nigiri was one of the most delicious things I’ve eaten in a very long time.

First time here, we are new to Atlanta and are trying all the restaurants and celebrating our anniversary. I had the omakase because I wanted to taste the best of everything the chef had to offer. The sashimi was very tasty and fresh. I chose only sashimi, no nigiri(no rice). The lobster that is seared at the table was so good, tender and sweet.

This isn’t your average sushi spot, Umi is the kind of place where you want to spend a special night with a very special person. The service is impeccable, atmosphere is vibrant and the creative menu selections surpasses what you might think sushi should be. The flavors danced in our mouths with every curated bites by Chef Todd. When you come here, must suspend your expectations and ask for Kevin by name and let him serve the menu of today’s freshest offerings. We put our trust in him and he did what we were told to expect…. The unknown is more tantalizing than reading listed menu ingredients and expect the anticipated flavors! We did opted for the chef’s tasting menu because heard (from the tea leafs) that their fish arrived freshly from Japan today. Once Kevin’s described today’s special fish varieties the evening was off to an awesome start. I could list and post photos of everything we ate… but I rather you see come and experience the art of food. Special thank you to our unsung hero, ahem, Sung! No pun intended but wow, thank you for the rec! This evening wouldn’t have happened had we not had the serendipitous pleasure of meeting you

Great food but service could be improved and the fact that you can’t take leftovers to go, makes it limiting.

I am not big on sushi. My fiance loves it. I actually really enjoyed my food. They have many cooked options. The service was great. The atmosphere was amazing. If you are looking for a great place to go for date night, or just want to have some good bites in Buckhead, this is definitely the place.

Book a reservation well in advance, as Umi in Buckhead Atlanta is dishing out the best sushi in Atlanta! The menu is very versatile and has something for all types of appetites and preferences. Build your own omakase experience or put yourself in the hands of one of the chefs, either is sure to dazzle. The ambiance is lively and low lit, with a bustling of servers scurrying around from the kitchen to tables, bringing dishes in perfect harmony to the pace of each table. Modern chill electronic music is subtly keeping a beat to energize the restaurant and the decor is modern and natural elements. Although Atlanta is inland and far from a coastal area, the freshest seafood and ingredients are all available and served at Umi. Located in a culinary corridor, with several great dining locations, look for a large dark brown wooden structure, resembling a square fence, or box, as there is nothing indicating a restaurant.
