The chefs at Uminori are a class act! Not many sushi places in Seattle offer the laid back and intimate setting this restaurant does for the price point. The hand rolls are excellent, my personal favorites are the unagi, baked crab, and negi-toro rolls. There are some vegetarian options, but not many – I would not recommend this restaurant to someone with dietary restrictions around seafood (except for a small snack).

We ordered the sake steamed clams without really looking through the menu as it is usually a very safe option.

Went for the first time yesterday and was so happy that we went! The food we had was amazing. We had two appetizers to share then we each had our own set of hand rolls. Definitely will be back!

God. Please please please, save yourself and stay away from this restaurant. The hand roll is like “where is this stuff come from?” And the wagyu must have been dead for years. So dry… everything is terrible. I heard they just changed menu, not sure if that’s the reason. But the current food is disaster!

Uminori is a nice dinner place for small bites in Capitol Hill. The staff is really nice and the restaurant has a great ambience.

We went in for lunch. There was almost no one there, and I suspect they mostly do a dinner trade. Nice ambiance. The specialty dishes were excellent and the sushi was good. I didn’t like the spicy tuna roll which had a strange flavor I’ve never had before in the same roll.

This place was great! The ambiance was great, our server was friendly, and food came out quickly. They have high quality seafood and have great flavor combinations for everything on their menu. The spicy scallop hand roll was my personal favorite but we also didn’t have one we didn’t like. I was super impressed with their spicy tuna crispy rice, it was priced well, had a huge portion of tuna, and the rice had good flavor. This dish is so hit or miss at sushi restaurants and they nailed it. Price point of the dinner was similar to a nice sushi restaurant.

Came here for a date night and it was great! All the hand rolls were delicious (wagyu and negihama were my favorite — get the 5-set), service was great, it was quiet so we could hear each other, and got a surprise dessert from the chef (we booked on Open Table). Great experience overall!

The food was excellent – temakis are open nori with rice and fresh fish on top. We took our Japanese visitors, who are actually living in Central America and wanted authentic Japanese food, and they approved! Minus one star because the service was really, really, really bad and rushed. Our orders were completely mixed up with one waiter telling us they were out of a specific fish only for another to have it brought out along with the replacement, our dessert came out as folks were still finishing their temakis, and the ginger had to be requested multiple times. We were a party of six and had to tell the waiter to slow the service down given how rushed and disinterested he seemed. Then our bill was wrong with extra items charged to us. Maybe it was just a really off night. (Coincidentally, we took the same folks to Kisaku Sushi for their last meal with us before departing and discovered that it’s the same owner, and equally excellent Japanese food with much better service.)
