Best Carolina style pork sandwich I’ve had outside of the Carolinas. Outrageously good, big portions. Ill swing by anytime I’m near Norfolk.

A place where I wouldn’t be upset if I went here but I wouldn’t prefer it. I ordered the brisket sandwich with mac n cheese. The brisket was dry and tough, while the mac n cheese was very impressive. A vibe of what you would expect but if you’re a fan of barbecue I do recommend to stop by to make your own opinion on this establishment.

I have seen brisket on TV and simply imagined what it should taste like. What was in my mind has now been turned into a reality when I tasted the brisket here… WOW!! Succulent, Tender, Moist and Flavorful. I was impressed. I had the 3 meat combo (brisket, pulled pork and ribs). All three were delicious, but LHM(Lord Have Mercy) that brisket was amazing. To top it off, my table was given a sampling of the bacon. If you’re a fan of bacon… this is a MUST try. Great job all around.

Got there towards end of service, so my review is to be taken with a grain of salt. Fun place to check out. Mix of table and walk up service, probably due to staff shortage found in many establishments. Food was ordered at the till and delivered to the table. Mostly self service. That being said, great staff, quick to fill our orders. Brisket nachos were really good, beef tips the same. Actual brisket and pulled pork were a bit drier than I’d like, but there’s the grain of salt… Last sets of patrons for the day can’t expect long to prep/cook meats to taste like they just got finished cooking. I’d like to try them closer to the beginning of business to compare before making further comments. What I did have was good, particularly the ribs were the star of my meal as they seemed to weather the day better. Tender, bones slid right out and a heathly amount of meat. Definitely not from a skinny animal. Was a bit on the cool side indoors, bring a pullover or sweatshirt if visiting in the fall.

I had smoked chicken, mac and cheese and cornbred. It was AMAZING. This place is worthy of Kansas city.

The Bean juice was really good on the pulled pork as I did not care for their mild barbecue sauce. I guess I’m used to Cookies brand of sweet sauce! Great service. Very interesting and fun atmosphere – loved it!

Super nice people. Unfortunately they cook the meat dry and then cover it with sauce, this is their somewhat lazy strategy. The meat was tough as horse meat after a jockey had been hitting it. They care about the service but not really about food quality. The burnt ends were $40 for a sandwich and a half pound. I bet some of their food is ok, the macaroni salad was very good.

Sandwich and beans were cold. Kids the only one’s working. Brisket came out of a food warmer. Felt as if I stopped a food truck. Not impressed for the money.

The staff was not really friendly. The man that took our order was pretty abrasives and irritated with my family. It was our first time in this establishment and it wasn’t unpleasant, just not friendly or welcoming. The food was good.

I’ve passed by Uncle Jarrol’s multiple times, and the parking lot is always pretty full. So I wanted to check the restaurant out and see how good the food was. I ordered out lunch and found it wasn’t anything spectacularly. Not terrible, but nothing significant. Generally, I don’t mind if the food is nothing fabulous (my first deployment back from the Middle-East, I chose Denny’s) as long as they have good customer service. However, the man behind the counter was rather short with his words and hospitality. Since I’ve now satisfied my curiosity, I will never eat there again.
