Visited Uncle Julio’s with some friends for dinner an a beautiful summer night. Love the way the patio opens into the restaurant. The food was less exciting. Good salsa and chips and food was fine, but in a town like St Louis with some very good Mexican – it’s high priced for OK Tex-mex. I had the steak fajitas and friends had two different dishes and everyone agreed it was good but not great.

I’ve been here twice and the food is decent, but it’s high priced, especially the drinks! What Mexican restaurant serves $15 margaritas in small glasses? It’s normally in a large fishbowl type of glass, but not at Uncle Julio’s. They are small drinks so if you wanna get a buzz, drink before you get there or have a lot of money so you can keep buying their expensive little drinks.

Over a half an hour to put an order for food at 2pm in the afternoon on Saturday…. This is a bit ridiculous… I had to get up and ask hostess to find someone to take our order, and this place is almost empty at this time. Nothing more annoying to wait to order food that long.

The atmosphere was nice (although the indoor/outdoor patio had a fly problem), however the service and food were lacking. We had to ask our server multiple times for simple items such as silverware or the tortillas that should have accompanied our fajitas. A similar request to a manager yielded the same results, but thankfully a hostess was able to step in and deliver the items. The fajitas were well cooked but lacked flavor – overall just a bland meal.
