Went here for brunch! This place is the beez kneez! First time.#1 it’s in an renovated school building and it is really well done. #2 parking is on the premises.#3 The food was soooo yummy! Very good!#4 Drinks is what brought us…they had a frozen drink after my own heart- The Bees Knees. The atmosphere was vey relaxing and laid back. I recommend you go to the commons, the patios, and the lounge. Definitely look around!

We got a large plate of chicken and it was smaller than the small plates…. All the food was really delicious and so was the beer! Service was great! But we were really disappointed with the large plate. It was a misleading title especially for the price $17….

We have biked to understory a few times and got dinner for the first time. The food/drinks were good and the experience on the patio was nice. We enjoyed the chicken sandwich and strawberry salad with the Swing Easy draft.

We booked Understory’s second floor event space for our wedding and reception and loved it! Jen was an amazing day-of coordinator and the staff were wonderful. Our guests loved the food and the drinks from the bar. Highly recommend booking Understory for a smaller, intimate wedding or event. We had 57 guests total and it was the perfect size.

Great atmosphere and concept, it is a fun place to eat. Kind of gives you that strange nostalgia you can only get from being in an elementary school cafeteria. Food was hit or miss for me, I like the artistic take on some dishes but don’t expect them to taste like the dishes they are inspired by. If you want to try something experimental and different, looking for a fun date night or hang out this would be a great option. The patio also looks like it would be a great place to be during the warmer months.

The patio was very nice! The beers are good to very good, but not excellent. The chickpea pasta salad was lacking. The dressing was bland for my taste and the pasta was falling apart, perhaps overcooked. The goat cheese croquette was very good but a bit skimpy. Overall a nice experience mostly due to the setting. Also the patio is dog friendly.

Spent a lovely Sunday afternoon/evening here and the ambiance is second to none. The food was divine and the cocktails are some of the best in columbus.

The setting is so, so beautiful. I love the retro vibe with all the plants. My friends and I really enjoyed our drinks, especially the bees knees frozen cocktail. Overall, the food was okay but pricey for the portion size and quality. We tried the Cubano, Mushroom Bahn Mi, Street Corn Pasta Salad (great), and Firecracker Cauliflower. Unfortunately, we were served burnt, dry cookies. I let someone know and they kindly offered us another cookie but they were burnt too. I would definitely go back for happy hour drinks on the patio.

This was an interesting stop. I’m loving all of the historic places being reused as restaurants/bars/venues. They have a bar/lounge in the main lever and another bar and more of a dinner type seating on the lower lever. We just had drinks and appetizers so we sat upstairs. We loved the atmosphere. We had the Olives, Vegetables and shishito peppers. And enjoyed a lovely time. We talked around a bit after. It was an old TB school for kids. So there are lockers, etc. it was really interesting. They have an elevator for going up to the wedding/party venue or down to the lower level. They had restrooms in all levels. Great place to check out. Really beautiful outside seating too.

Super cool concept!!! Used to be a school and now is turned into a spot for various meals including brunch and my experience a sit down meal/“shareables” amongst a casual table. You order at a window and can also enjoy a wide variety of craft beers. Owned by Wolf’s Ridge it has exactly what you would expect from a fine establishment turning a school into a restaurant. There’s traces of the school theme left throughout such as old lockers on the wall and kids chalk drawings outside. Food wasn’t anything special but recommended for drinks and cool atmosphere.
