Wow. Just wow. No more words. SO much food, with some fantastic tea, for the cost of a chain fast food burger? Bargain of the century. It’s healthy, service is immediate, everyone is super friendly. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I really wanted to like this place, but it just wasn’t for me. I’m still learning my way around Tucson, and I didn’t realize it was Downtown and I would have to pay for parking. The parking took a lot of my time, and I was already racing a clock. I took my food to go, but ran out of time and had to eat my lunch later in the day. The salad didn’t hold up well on those couple hours. I’m really not sure what the goopy topping was, but it was pretty gross and I ended up throwing the salad away after a few bites. I just couldn’t eat it. I think that’s probably the first meal I’ve had to throw away. I will usually eat my food even if I don’t love it. I’ll assume this is better when fresh, but I still don’t think I’ll go back.

This place is great. If you’re visiting Tuscon for the first time make this your first stop like we did. After a long flight we got refreshed and refueled on wraps, smoothies and juices. Then got ALL the local food recs and travel tips from Chauncey, the wonderful owner of this spot. He clearly has a deep affection for the city and the good food and people in it, and deserves all the loves he gets back.

I come here regularly, at least once a week, and am so grateful for the wonderful food offered at Urban Fresh every day. Their specials are diverse, creative, and delicious. The soups are flavorful (that creamy roasted tomato soup blows my mind!!), and the taco salad? A work of art! Go. Talk to Chauncey. He’ll steer you right. 🙂

Within hours of getting to Tucson, the impeccably crafted food and warm-hearted people at Urban Fresh had us travelers feeling like we were at home! We’re on a long bicycle tour with our dogs, and the owners & staff noticed our bike setup and came out to chat and give fresh water & homemade sweet potato treats to the dogs. The Reuben was easily the most satisfyingly umami plant-based sandwich I’ve ever had; the house-made seitan “pastrami” packs a flavor punch. The pad Thai wrap is equally delicious, with intense nutty-gingery sauce and the kind of crisp veggies I most crave when I’m on the road. Oh and the vegan cupcakes? They’re dense, moist morsels of dessert heaven. We especially loved the frosting on the berry zinger, which tasted just like a strawberry smoothie! Huge thanks to Urban Fresh for the generosity and amazing food!! It’s clear that this eatery serves a community and does it with heart. We strongly recommend it, to vegans or flexitarians or anyone, even an avowed carnivore should be happily surprised by the hefty, healthy sustenance here!
