The best Mexican food I have had outside of Mexico. It is a small downtown spot perfect for lunch. Great downtown atmosphere with outside seating available. The food was perfect. The salsa is wonderful flavor and just hot enough to make you stop and rest every 3 or 4 chips. If you are in Downtown San Diego you must stop in.

This is a small place in the downtown area. The food was good, but when you go to a restaurant (at least me), you expect a little more. First of all, there are no restrooms. The lady taking the order was a little rude and inattentive. We stood there while she chatted with the kitchen staff. We asked for coffee, and she gave us half full cups. She said it was a medium coffee in a large cup. There are no real plates or silverware, and if you are lucky, you get one paper napkin. Again, the food was good, but everything else, not so much. I ordered the menudo, and it was tasty but little substance. More broth than meat or hominy.

Valentines Mexican Food in San Diego is a culinary haven that has redefined my love for menudo and burritos. Their menudo is divine, with a rich broth, tender tripe, and delightful hominy. The burritos are a fusion of fresh ingredients, expertly cooked meats, and an explosion of flavors. The authenticity and warmth of Valentines make every visit a cherished experience. I highly recommend Valentines Mexican Food for an unforgettable menudo and burrito feast that will surpass all expectations.

I went here because of the ravishing reviews I read about on Google maps and I was so disappointed. It’s not authentic Mexican food. The guacamole so not guacamole at all it’s really runny and not my cup of tea. Then they put tomatoes and onions inside the quesadilla and grilled it so now I have Hot tomato and onions inside my quesadilla. I gaged. I was over the whole meal at this point..

Unfortunately, the Valentine’s Mexican food, used to be so good, is no longer a place in downtown to enjoy a great Mexican food. I used to go there for more then 10 years, the owners changed few times, which is probably normal, but the last time I placed an order on August 25, 2023, was the worst: terrible customer service, the older lady in glasses, never welcomed me, was on the phone all the time while taking the order, didn’t give me a receipt, and the food was terrible, the worst Mexican food I have had in San Diego, absolutely tasteless, hard, shredded beef burrito and taco plate. Such a waste of money!

This place is a must stop if your looking for authentic tasting Mexican food. I ordered the machaca plate and everything from the flavor to to the tenderness of the meat was perfect. I also like that it was walking distance from our hotel and that you have the option of indoor or outdoor seating that is shaded.

Good Mexican spot! Seating inside and out, and the food comes out quickly. I had the surf and turf burrito and was very happy with it. Also like that the sauces are available to grab yourself. The quality of meat is better than many other Mexican joints which is nice too.

One of the best places for Tacos and Barritos in San Diego. Whether eating inn or picking up, the staff are great and the food is delicious. Highly recommend.

The Cali Burrito was great! Extremely great tasting and hot; not as high as I’d like but wouldn’t call it small. Crispy fries and the sauces they had were excellent.

Casual Mexican restaurant with subtle Frieda Kahlo art. The food was amazing! Quick lunch service. Way better than expected from initial impressions. But I’m definitely going back again.
