How we created the Flava…
Husband & Wife team Yah-i & Maat created Vegan Flava Cafe in 2011 as a mobile catering business when they realized that the Durham area loved the unique flavor that the couple perfected in vegan food. This grew into a food truck and finally a brick & Mortar business in 2015 in Durham with the help of an investor. Vegan Flava is now a household word around the Durham/Chapel Hill area and beyond. Vegan Flava Cafe is located at the Blue Dogwood Market in Chapel Hill.

Staff was really nice, but the food was disappointingly bland and took a long time to arrive. I ordered a vegan tunafish salad, which was served on a plate of mixed greens with no dressing. Maybe there are better options on the menu, but this one was pretty dry and flavorless.

I absolutely love the food here! I tried the Brunch menu , I got the Pancakes,crab cakes ,kale salad ,beans and cheese grits and everything was so delicious & flavorful & i also got the chickpea tuna wrap and it was absolutely freaking delicious! I regretted not getting a second order cause of how good it was ! Definitely recommend .

Definetely a “go to” spot for vegans…or for anyone looking to try something “different” good portions and delicious offerings. The Sunday brunch offers pancakes and cheese grits…I recommend the kale salad and the brunch menu.

Vegan Flava Cafe is hidden behind the cafeteria off of Guess Road in the plaza with Planet Fitness and the trampoline park. They offer daily hot specials as well as raw food vegan options. It’s tasty and healthy stuff. The chana masala is good and I enjoyed the kale and plaintains as sides. I’m going back for the fish cakes and taco salad sometime soon. The decor is pretty basic with simple booths. The staff were friendly and accommodating.
