Hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Bethany and Dano have built an incredible restaurant and everything from the service to the food was outstanding! Even the bathrooms were cute and charming! Our server Katie nailed it with the recommendations and we truly enjoyed everything we got. An absolute must when visiting Charleston!

The reason I can’t give 5 stars is what happened at the beginning of our dinner. We got there right at open, had reservations for 2 people at 5pm and had written it was for our anniversary. The hostess wished us happy anniversary than showed us to the two top closest to the bar. The person sitting at the bar chair closest to us was nearly half way on top of our table ( table was about the same height as the bar chairs) and kept talking with her hands which caused her hands and loud bangles to kept going right between us, over our table. At this point it’s 5:06 the restaurant had at least 6 different two tops still open and I had to ask the hostess to please move us. Which she did, and we had an incredible dinner- but why she decided to originally place us there for an anniversary dinner was beyond me- easily the worst seat in the house -with plenty of space still available??? That specific table remained empty for an hour into our meal. As for the food and wine, everything was incredible. We had the sourdough, gnocchi, chicken, oxtail and two bottles of the REMELLURI. Our waitress was very kind and informative. Besides the issue in the beginning it was an amazing dinner.

Food and service were very good. It’s an energetic vibe and can be a bit hard to hear but that would be the only downside. Escargot and sourdough flatbread were amazing. We also enjoyed the pork loin harissa but wished it had more of the fennel salad. The mafaldine, ‘nduja with egg yolk was also delicious. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce had a perfect touch of spice. To finish, we highly recommend saving room for the chocolate, cardamaro with hazelnuts. A perfect end to a wonderful meal.

Dinner was at Vern’s last night and it was a delight. This is a small neighborhood restaurant, a little larger on the inside than the outside would indicate. The menu was not extensive, not really sharable appetizers, a couple of salads, protein was well represented with fish, pork, beef, chicken and rabbit. Lots of sides to choose from and you will need them as few entrees came with side dishes. Actually though, a fairly inventive cuisine. We shared the bitter lettuce salad and charred sourdough (recommend highly) and for entrees, campanelli with a rabbit ragu, the grouper with rice, and the bavette. Sides included roasted potatoes and the cucumbers and burrata. The food was very good, service was excellent, prices were high for a neighborhood restaurant but it’s hard to find reasonably priced food anywhere. The wine list was extensive and they had several local beers including one brewed specially for Vern’s. Noise level was low enough for normal conversation and table spacing was adequate. Decor was wood, warm and friendly. Lighting was adequate. On street parking only and it could be a challenge finding parking close to the restaurant. Overall, this restaurant is really a fine addition to what has become a galaxy of charleston fine dining venues. After careful analysis we give Vern’s four and one half clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale. A very high score.

I went on a Monday night with 6 girlfriends. It was difficult to park around the area and I spent a bit of time circling and was a little late so be prepared for that. The space is very intimate with low mood lighting and the tables and the space isnt very big. We shared a bunch of plates. My friends enjoyed the pasta. We got 2 salads. The octopus was good but small.

Incredible experience. The service here was top notch. Our server was very knowledgeable about the dishes and the beverage menu. The food was phenomenal. We ate a ton of different dishes (as you can see). The plates are made tapas family style almost, with some of the plates being very small and some being medium sized. You will definitely need to order 8ish dishes. Which is fun to try all of them! Surprised this place is new. It runs like a well oiled machine!

So happy we were able to experience this spot when in it’s first month of opening. The Chefs are out of the world. It’s got a great vibe, wonderful service, some of the best wine pairings, and just organic farm to table ingredients showing off the ingredients in the best way. A true gem of Charleston. Happy to be able to experience a great meal!

First time visiting Vern’s that opened to a lot of hype and it was worth it. There aren’t too many, if any, restaurants that Vern’s would compete with in Charleston. The food and the ambiance are definitely unique and a welcome addition to the Charleston Food Scene. The vibe is small European bistro and the ambiance does not disappoint.
