Tasty dinner in a cool location. Some of the food feels rich (heavy & fatty). We loved the local salad, the soft shell crab (pictured) was great but a bit oily and the lamb has so much cumin it was almost not edible. The description does say lots of cumin and it lives up to that.

Excellent intimate restaurant in Nantucket. Great small plate menu with different flavors. Service was friendly and attentive.

I started my food and wine hobby 25 years ago. I have written only a couple of restaurant reviews. Until now they have been very positive. My experience at this restaurant rates as the worst I have ever had…both the food and wine list are ridiculously overpriced. The small plate serving sizes are a joke. The place has the attitude and price points of a 3 star restaurant and it is a neighborhood restaurant. The sever was a born and raised local who clearly cannot stand the tourists who are providing her with a job. Skip this place, it’s a ripoff. There are several other places that are also expensive on Nantucket but the experience is much better…especially the places with a view of the ocean or harbor. This place has a view of the street!

We enjoyed a lovely dinner here on our first visit to Nantucket. Such an interesting venue with spectacular service. I highly recommend the Tagliatelle dish! Will be sure to stop in again before we leave.

I normally don’t walk out of an eatery due to how bad the food is, but Via Mare was the exception. I ordered a breakfast sandwich (14 dollars btw) and the bread was STALE and tasted like it was bulk ordered. The cheese used was a cheap American cheese and the eggs were not seasoned. I’ve had a more gourmet experience at a Dunkin’ Donuts than Via Mare. Do yourself a favor, walk up the street and get a better meal somewhere else. The server didn’t even ask why the sandwich was left basically uneaten.

Via Mare is worth trying. Each of the dishes we ordered was unique. I would argue that each of them was maybe one layer too complex, but it was definitely interesting. Wine list was solid. Service was VERY good. My biggest beef is that there’s zero parking near the restaurant. (It took us 20 min to find a space.)

Great food and exceptional service! Virginia and the sommelier were both so lovely and helpful with the menu, and everything we ordered was delicious!

Loved the waitress. Who ever answers the phone needs etiquette training. Food was good.

Should’ve known this wasn’t the right spot for a nightcap following a PHENOMENAL dinner at Dune across the street. In search of one last spot to experience while on the Island, my husband and I agreed to a cocktail at Via Mare before retiring to our inn for the evening. We ordered two chocolate martinis and the bartender stared at us blankly, told us he didn’t have those, and didn’t offer anything else. My husband ordered a dirty martini and myself, a Cosmo. His martini was mediocre at best and my Cosmo served fuchsia in color. Abruptly, the bar stopped serving without offering any patrons another drink – which was probably for the best. The interior was lovely but the service left much to be desired. Do not waste your time here at a hotel-bar-Nantucket-wannabe establishment.
