I recently visited Vietnamese Grill in Gainesville and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. I ordered the pad thai, but it didn’t taste anything like a pad thai I’ve had before. In fact, it was so lacking in flavor and overloaded with bean sprouts that I couldn’t even finish the dish.

Chicken pad thai was alright (some vegetables were too hard for my taste). Pho with beef was delicious and tender. Both had very generous portions and flavors were good. The place is quite small and dimly lit. The staff was nice but seemed aloof.

the shaken beef came with a lot of more meat than expected (there was more before the photo) and perfectly cooked veggies. taste like pepper steak stir fry my family makes and was enough to last me two meals, worth every penny.

I keep coming back for the bahn mi and beef pho! Prices are incredibly good and portions are very generous. Hard to find a $7 bahn mi and $12 pho anywhere else.

I’ve had this chicken noodle bowl over 100 times at this point over my 4 years of being at UF. So I think that speaks for itself that I HIGHLY recommend this place. The food is phenomenal and the couple that runs it are incredibly nice. Please support the Vietnamese Grille!

Worst pho I’ve ever tasted. It has a sour rancid smell, I can’t tell if it’s the bowl that is not properly cleaned or the food is bad. I tried to add chili oil but it didn’t help either, still that smell. The broth is plain, noodle is over sticky and soft. The portion of the meat is average but the beef pho only has flank meat instead of a variety of meatballs/triple/brisket etc. This is the first-ever bowl of pho that I didn’t finish.

We ordered the beef pho (32 oz) and a pork bahn mi. Both were fantastic – by far better than other restaurants we’ve been to in Gainesville. The broth was savory (a lot of places can be sweet), the veggies were plentiful and crisp, and the meat for the bahn mi was well marinated and had a delicious bite of char flavor. The baguette was also well toasted and soft. We also had a Thai iced tea and Vietnamese coffee – both good but the coffee better (imo) than the tea. The total cost was between 20 – 30 dollars, which is fair considering how much food we got. I would highly recommend going here for delicious, authentic Vietnamese food.
