Honestly I’ve tried a lot of sushi at different places some wore decent some not bad.. but this place literally has one of the best sushi out there!!! If don’t believe me stop by and taste some! 🙂

Let’s start with flavors, bland sauce, uninspired combinations, overall not great. But more concerning by far was preparation and handling. I am fairly forgiving for such things depending on the food…Sushi is not it. Handling raw fish for consumption requires attention to detail that was severely lacking. The rolls were falling out and apart. One was very obviously more funnel than roll. The “10” pieces we cut so irregulary that some couldn’t hold together and the others were so thick you couldn’t fit it into your mouth in one bite. So training and oversight is lacking. The smeared wasabi on the to-go containers also show a rushed process, literally falling off in chunks. I might expect a greasy wrapper on a fast food burger. But on raw seafood I cannot emphasize enough, stay away.

Best sushi for the price in SE! Fish is great quality and you can tell they put a lot of effort into every order. We ordered the spicy tuna and the beauty and the beast roll, and they were incredibly good. Definitely coming back.

Tommy is a good guy, and I like his food. I order from him several times per month since his pricing is reasonable, and the portions are generous. My favorites are the $12 salmon or ribeye teriyaki over rice, which both come with a side salad. I think the sushi is excellent too, but his teriyaki is superior to that of other Portland restaurants.
