I was in for a late breakfast travelling through Delaware. I’m a Jersey guy and while we have plenty of awesome diners we don’t have any Waffle House. I spent a few years in GA and FL so I know what I’m missing. Also, I’ve worked every position in a restaurant from top to bottom and I have over 20 years in the industry.

Sign on the window says cleaning until 2am. I arrived after a ton of driving at 1:45 excited to eat at legendary Waffle House. 2:00 comes around. No one will open the door but the employees kid is sleeping at one of the tables and later gets up. 2:20 rolls around. The employee is chasing his kid around the restaurant and looks right at me but ignores the fact I’m standing outside waiting to get in. This whole time I’m pacing the sidewalk stretching my legs waiting to get in. The employees sees me multiple times and never opens the restaurant.

Terrible service and didn’t get any drinks till after our meal came and we were more then half way through them. At that point when I told them a drink was no longer needed I was cussed at with the f bomb multiple times for the inconvenience of no longer wanting a beverage. It was a buz cut hair woman working night shift on Saturday night. I will never go to any “Waffle House” again especially one in my home town specifically because of the employees and the lack of service!

Waitresses could care less about her job. Asked for milk for coffee and brought me a glass of milk and charged me for it. Food prep area very messy. Please very under staffed. Asked for whipped cream for waffles and she brought the can out to the table. So we could see it was the cheapest whipped cream a can you could find. If your going to do that have a name brand people know or shoot it on a separate plate. How many different fingers pushed the can dispenser before we got it so we didn’t use it

Arrived apparently during a shift change, waited about a half hour for our order to be taken. After that things seemed to go well, we were wrong! We waited an hour after ordering to receive part of our food only to have raw meat delivered to our table for my young child!! Brought it to our servers attention who brought the cook over, he just grabbed the plate and chucked it into the garbage grumbled and walked away. After that we got two of the main meals that we ordered, the third seemed to have gotten lost somewhere as when we yet again had to bring our servers attention to an error it took 15 mins to get that.

The food was edible, thats about it. The staff was friendly but seemed confused and didn’t appear to have experienced in the restaurant industry. They confused our plates and brought out each dish about 5 minutes apart from each other. So four people all got their food at different times.
