Was traveling through Sumter and had a hankering for BBQ. Ward’s was just down the street from where I was at according to Google Maps so I stopped in and ordered a barbecue plate. I was definitely Not impressed with this barbecue and did not even attempt to finish the plate. I typically do not like to waste food however I was unable to finish this plate of food. I personally would not visit Ward’s BBQ again. I am used to real BBQ at Little pigs BBQ in Columbia and Shealy’s BBQ in Leesville.

I’ve been getting the Hash and Rice for years and it’s usually always good. The place always seems to be clean but they don’t wear hair nets or gloves. And the food only have a aluminum foil cover sometimes.

Was looking for some bbq hash, like I had gotten from an old man selling bbq in a parking lot once. This isn’t it, it was ok, but it’s pricey for what you actually get. They had pork, ribs, hash and chicken on the menu, but only had pork and hash available today.

this is a hot mess! The chicken is bland asl doesn’t even look or taste like it’s been anywhere near a smoker or a grill. Not seasoned, looks like 8ts more baked than anything… Idk what this brown stuff is but it’s not hash I’ve ever seen! Just terrible. $32 wasted!

This place was great! The menu was a little confusing for a northerner, but the employee was very helpful in answering all of my questions. I got the ribs: delicious. Pulled pork: delicious. Dark meat chicken: falling off the bone. Everything was drenched in the sauce, which was messy, but great flavor. Not much of an ambience, they were only doing drive thru, but that’s fine. Potato salad is flavorless, and they forgot my order of corn-dodgers, so I couldn’t give them a full 5-stars but definitely good NC BBQ.

The young lady was very nice, polite and attractive. I came in for three dozen corn dodgers and the young lady was kind enough to cook me up some fresh ones since they only had about a half a dozen in the ready to go container. It took no more than 5 to 10 minutes to cook up a new supply. She even told me the approximation of time that it would take in advance. When I returned, she was bagging up my order. She was also very accommodating to my request of a dozen in each of three bags. Good job on the customer service, I appreciate it!!
