This first visit was between my work shifts on a Tuesday. I got there right after they opened at 3:30 pm. Having looked at the online menu previously, I ordered the Crab Cake from the small plates section of the menu. It was delicious, but I wish it could have been just a smidge less browned, not that I didn’t practically inhale it as it was. The sauce was fantastic. Great selection of bourbons, beautiful clean space, but most importantly fantastic service.

I hate being critical on a first visit but this place desperately needs some help. It was very obvious most of the patrons there were getting impatient waiting for food orders. Orders were coming out divided so half a table had food and half was still waiting. My wife’s food came out a good 10 minutes before mine and definitely appeared to have been sitting back in the kitchen as butter was completely melted. Seemed to be a great deal of confusion putting orders in and determining why people didn’t have food yet. A/C return was very dirty and items that should have been stored out of site were readily visible from the bar. Both the dishes we tried were subpar at best. This is a great location but someone who knows how to run a restaurant needs to step in and correct the issues.

The best pancakes I’ve had in my life, and French toast too (but don’t tell my dad). Incredible food, I kept going back and each time was beyond belief. The curly haired waitress is attentive, quick, knowledgeable and full of great ideas. I had a great time chatting with her. I’ve already recommended it to everyone I know, and will continue to do so when the opportunity arises.

My boyfriend decided to take me to brunch on Sunday at Watkins, when I just wanted to stay home & cook breakfast, but he insisted on going to brunch there was so many places we could have chosen but we haven’t had Watkins in awhile, So Watkins it is & it was horrible, the service mediocre could have been better, the food was just not good, grits was cold & lumpy, the bacon was burnt & had the nerve to bring the same bacon back out to me after I said it was cold & burnt!! My toast was dry as well!! Then had the nerve to say ill take care of the bill..Let’s just say we want be coming back!! Signed a unhappy customer

Great service and amazing food! I had the Kale Salad and Farm Burger. Both were very delicious. The truffle fries compliments the burger very well. The staff were very friendly and attentive. If you’re in Birmingham come check them out.

Watkin’s is a hidden gem! While awaiting a table at a nearby restaurant, we decided to give this local eatery a try. The attentive service, friendly staff, and flavorful classics definitely leave nothing to be desired.

Our 2nd dining experience here surpassed our first. I ordered the cut of the day medium rare, and the chef felt like it was over-cooked so started a 2nd one, but gave it to me to eat so I wouldn’t be sitting watching someone else eat. I’ll be honest, that blew me away, because I ate all of that first steak. It was super delicious. So was the 2nd one. I felt a little guilty eating two steaks but… they were just too good! This is my new favorite place.

I didn’t like anything about it. Weird vibe, zero customer service, mediocre food at best. I had a spinach salad which came with a boiled egg. The yolk was dripping out of the egg white. Yuck. Will never be back

We had a fantastic dinner at Watkins. One of the best steaks I’ve had, and the octopus was amazing! Definitely will go back next time we’re in town!

Service was great and drinks were very good. But we ordered a $50 ribeye and it was way over cooked. Waitress offered to have it remade but we were in hurry and didn’t have time to wait.
