Came here for the Houston Food week and ordered the Dr. Pepper chocolate cake, and it neither tasted like Dr. Pepper nor chocolate, so that was a little disappointing. Also, no frozen margaritas were available as their machine was currently broken.. Otherwise, the rest of the food was delicious. We had the chili bowl, the peppered cheese, the chicken fried steak, armadillo eggs, the fish poboy, the tres leches cake, and the Dr. Pepper Chocolate cake. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star on service was because our servers’ hands were very dirty when serving our food. It looked like she had just come from playing outside in the dirt. She had dirt underneath all of her nails. She was grungy looking and looked like she hadn’t brushed her teeth in a couple of days. Appearance for the presentation of food was a little disgusting. She was polite but looked unhygienic. If she had been outside gathering our food, that would’ve been one thing, but knowing someone else was cooking it and all she was doing was serving it, that’s another thing. Hopefully, once they move to their new location, they will have better presenting staff to go with their food.

What a great refined southern food experience! The decorations reminded me of an elevated version of visiting my great-grandmother’s house. The staff is exceptionally friendly and very helpful when it comes to food sensitivities. You can tell the chef really enjoys seeing guests enjoy all the delicious creations.

My friends and I came for Houston Restaurants Weeks. Their menu was amazing. I had the armadillo egg, chicken fried steak, and Dr. Pepper chocolate cake. Everything was delicious. Our waitor was extremely attentive and was a welcoming presence. The decor is light and has fun accents. We will be back throughout the year.

Good food. Misses the price point of the atmosphere. The menu is too high of a price for where it is and what it is. We ordered the steak tartare and quesadilla. The steak tartare was good had an acidity to it. The fried saltines were a good touch. The quesadilla was good. Saucy and delicious. We also got margaritas that were strong enough, but not over powering or sweet. I took stars away for the prices on the the items for the place they are at

Really enjoyed this place. It’s in a cool location, and as far as concept restaurants go, it’s very well executed. Started off with the armadillo eggs, ceviche, and the chicken wings.

We had a great time at Wild Oats during the Houston Farmers Market on Saturday. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our table enjoyed an interesting aged sour beer, the squash salad, chili, and a po boy!

So, best chicken fried steak and you can get a half order so you’re not rolling out of the place. The cream gravy is great and the asparagus is a nice touch. The quesadilla comes with tater tots. I love tater tots – they are underutilized. The menu isn’t too extensive. The restaurant is in the back behind the farmers market. It’s not easy to find. Location is pretty quiet. I hope they’re able to make things work.

Really nice place. Had the CFS and it was certainly tasty. I had seen this reviewed on a TV Show as one of the best in Texas – not so sure about that but it was good. My friend had the fish and the waiter told her to be aware of scales! Can’t believe they were not already removed so she was scared of inadvertently eating a scale. Also the seats weren’t so comfy. But all in all I recommend at least trying it. We went a week day and no trouble being seated.

First time here. Food was OK but quantity for the price was a little low – they’re definitely about presentation. Armadillo Egg appetizer had good flavor but were warm at best, definitely not hot, like they’d been sitting out for a bit before bringing them to us. Also, even though there seemed to be plenty of waitstaff, the service was spotty at best. Additionally, they were out of a lot of items, including their Sunday special for Father’s Day.
