In the top for sure, but not the world’s best as they say. For me there are four features a great fried chicken should have: crunchiness, juiciness, spiciness and a good meat to bone ratio, Willie Mae’s excels in the first three, but falls short in the meat to bone ratio. The line is way too long for a dish like fried chicken that you can get anywhere else with, probably lower, but similar quality if you look hard, we spent 1 hour waiting for a table for two. We spent 17.25 dollar having the classic 3 piece fried chicken with a side. I wanted to highlight the attention, we were in a rush to catch a flight and the waiter was extremely efficient.

The food was delicious. Like literally so good, I loveed it! Some of the best chicken I have ever had! I got the fried chicken plate and the Mac and cheese with some cornbread- and it was so good! The only reason I docked a star was because our wait was truly, ridiculously long. I understand it can be hard to accommodate large parties, with the establishment being so small, but they did not allow us to enter until they had this large table open for us. We sat outside and saw so many people enter and eat and leave, parties of 4, 2, 3 and at one point this large party of 5 entered and were said they could seat immediately. At that point I was

One of the best meals I had in New Orleans. Everything was good. Wouldn’t say it was the best fried chicken I ever had but definitely a quality recipe. Butter beans and cornbread were good aswell. Highly recommend. This one is definitely worth the wait.

It was worth the wait. Make sure you scan the QR code before getting there to be put on the list. The associates were so friendly. The fried chicken just had enough spice and love the crunch on the chicken.

BEST FRIED CHICKEN! When we arrived there was a massive line but it moved pretty quickly, we waiting about 30 minutes. Our waitress was extremely friendly and professional! The food came quick considering how busy they were. I had the fried chicken with dark meat, the chicken sandwich, and the fried chicken tenders. Nothing tasted too heavy or greasy, everything was perfect and definitely something you have to try when in NOLA.

This is a MUST in New Orleans! This was the 2nd time that I’ve been here. Got here around 1130am and didn’t get to eat until 1:30!!! What? A 2HR wait for food!?!? Well worth it! In my opinion, it’s the BEST Fried chicken in the world, the best I’ve ever had! Juicy, moist and the batter makes the most difference. Mac and cheese or sweet potato fries are great sides but you are not here to eat that!

Oh my God. This was the best fried chicken I had ever had. So crunchy and juicy. It was super flavorful. I got dark meat fried chicken, mac and cheese and a corn muffin. The corn muffin was excellent as well, moist and buttery. The mac and cheese was good but I’ve had better. The price was reasonable for as many awards as they have. I went later and I didn’t have to wait. I just walked in. The hours have changed on some days and my uber driver was worried that hey would be closed but they were open till 8. There are benches outside if there is a wait. There is a sign to scan to add yourself to the wait list if there is a line.

Willie Mae’s Scotch House is a legendary soul food restaurant in New Orleans that has been serving some of the best fried chicken in the country since 1957. The chicken is crispy, juicy, and slightly spicy, and goes well with sides like butter beans, red beans and rice, or macaroni and cheese. The restaurant is run by Willie Mae’s granddaughter Kerry Seaton Stewart, who has preserved her grandmother’s legacy and recipes. The service was friendly and fast, and the place was clean and cozy. The only downside is that you might have to wait a long time to get a table, but trust me, it’s worth it! If you love fried chicken, you should definitely visit Willie Mae’s Scotch House at least once in your life.
