This incredible historic business is an absolutely priceless hidden gem. It has been in the same family since its founding in the 1800’s. It has been a hotel, general store, bar, restaurant, part of the underground railroad, and more. Today, they have a museum quality collection of antique inventory from its days as a general store, antiques for sale, a cool bar, a family style restaurant, and if you ask nicely when someone is available to give it – you may get a tour of the building.

It’s an enjoyable experience going to this fantastic, old time restaurant. The food is served family style and is excellent and there’s plenty of it. The atmosphere makes you feel like you’ve gone back in time 150 years. Plus, taking the ferry to get to Brussels Island adds to the adventure. I went there with my kids and grandkids, and everyone loved it.

If you are out in this neck of the woods and looking for some down home cooking. Would highly recommend this place. The servers were great.

we were a bit rushed, and courses came out in the wrong order. its about $20/person so not bad for the amount of food you get. the food was kind of okay too. also difficult to get here as well. thanks though!

This is definitely a hidden gem. Step back into time and immerse yourself into a fun experience. Dinner is served family style and refills of whatever you choose will be brought right out. Food was so good and the waitresses were so engaging. (Note this is a cash, check only or you wash dishes when done. No plastic card accepted at all.) Go out of your way to find this place!!!

I don’t even know where to begin?! I’m a foodie and a history buff and this was absolute heaven for me! I surprised my kids with an adventure to the ferry, roadtrip out to middle of nowhere to this amazing 5th generation owned historic restaurant. You’re immediately overwhelmed with antiques, original woodwork and old world charm.

The dark chicken was good.. white chicken was dry.. the sausage was under cooked.. they brought out 1 relish tray for 11 people. Had to keep asking for more. Rather annoying. Could they bring out 2 or 3 relish trays??

CASH or check only. There is a bank right across the street if you run short on cash. Food is served family style, no menu. I would say the portions were great and the food was delicious. Service was also great.

We always go there during the fall. We will be making two trips this year since my granddaughter requested Wittmonds for her birthday dinner. I couldn’t pick a better place, my favorite.
