Once again, I found myself traveling the 45 minutes from Jamestown to feast at this fine eatery. There are many other restaurants to choose from, but The River Grill is on the top of my list. The steaks are divine, the catfish is sublime and the staff is so fine. And please don’t miss out on the loaded sweet potato fries. My constant favorite. They will make you sing praises to whoever came up with that little dish. Oh, and get the wings and fried pickles for apps. You’ll be glad you did!

Typically, we enjoy the food and the atmosphere of our hometown bar & grill. The prices are on the high side but reasonable and the service is usually good. Tonight however, we found ourselves rather disappointed. We looked beyond the fact that they lack an area for more intimate dining (most tables have six or more chairs), with no smaller seating areas unless you sit at the bar. We sat ourselves in an area that would be away from the screaming children, which apparently caused the staff to ignore us. After fifteen minutes, a server arrived to count the remaining seats in the area (to accommodate a private birthday party) but failed to offer us a menu or a beverage. Five minutes later, we decided to leave – at which time the staff attempted to become very accommodating – too late. Normally, three stars would be appropriate, but with the negative experience as a whole, I think two stars is as forgiving as I can be.

Usually the food is pretty good had a 12 oz rib eye tonight very very poor quality me and my wife never got our dinner salads and had to argue with him to take the price of the salad off our bill could only eat about a fourth of my steak it was so poor
