My husband and I were visiting from out of town and stopped here. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. It seemed like they all genuinely enjoyed their job. We got a ton of food for a really good price. The ribs were some of the best I’ve ever had – they were super flavorful and incredibly tender. I’d also recommend the cheesy corn. Everything was delicious!

Happened to stop at Woodburn Shanks for some BBQ before a show on Tuesday evening. Though they were out of a few meats (brisket, ribs), the staff recommended a BBQ plate with half chicken, sausage and burnt ends. We had generous portions and the food was delicious. Really enjoyed the chicken. For sides, the fries were crispy and well seasoned. The brisket chili was on the salty side for me. All in all, I’d love to come back and try the other meats.

I liked the food a lot (brisket Mac, brisket platter) but half the menu wasn’t available, even basics like pulled pork and pulled chicken. They ran out of straws too.

Stopped in while in town and as a KC girl, I can honestly say I was impressed. It’s legit KC-style BBQ! Not only that- the meat was smoked that morning and they make their sides, dry rubs, and the delicious sweet and spicy KC BBQ sauce from scratch! They even stuff their own sausage here. Amazing food, tender meat. Don’t think twice- you have to try it out. Also, I heard they will be serving beer soon!

Stopped by 6pm on a Friday. You never know what is left at a BBQ joint, but they had almost everything in stock. Ordered two brisket meals. Brisket was delicious as usual. Onion rings was also good. I like their variety of sauces and you can help yourself to any of them you choose. Definitely my favorite BBQ place in the local area. Order was ready to go really fast and staff was very friendly and informative.

I have a pretty high standard for pulled pork due to cooking at the hickory house for a year. With that being said they did a great job. I got a pulled pork sandwich potato salad and baked beans. The potato salad wasn’t for me, but I think that’s just my taste not lack of quality by any means. Baked beans were great. No complaints.

Overall the meat quality is very good. When you add the Carolina sauce to the pulled pork it hits. The brisket while cooked very well and the texture was good, I found it slightly under seasoned as I prefer my brisket not sauced. If you add the spicy habanero to it, it is improved. The baked beans have great great depth of flavor and are cooked well as the texture is not mush like most. The onion rings were clearly seasoned post frying and were very crispy, which I like.

Food and service were great. Not sure what to say about the atmosphere…ordering reminded me of fast food. One person to take orders….even if there is a line. I would get take out next time …just wasn’t into the actual restaurant…really blah feeling ..would rather eat my food somewhere else….too dark and not comforting. The rest was great though.

The restaurant is nice. Typical BBQ joint atmosphere. However, the food does not even deserve a rating. I ordered nachos because I wasn’t feeling BBQ. It was literally chips, some cold dark meat chicken that tasted like it was 2 days old, and shredded cheese. (not queso) It was not heated up or anything. My boyfriend ordered pulled pork which was on, I’m not even kidding, sandwhich bread. Not even toasted. His coleslaw was watery. His meat was cold too. Based on other reviews, I see I am not alone. Please, please hire a chef to recreate the menu. That is my advice. This restaurant has a lot of potential.
