I’ve had Xalos a few times, and this location wasn’t my favorite. The service was a little less friendly and helpful, and they took a long time to get us our food. Probably 20-30 minutes for two plates. BUT, I have to say the food is the best Mexican you’ll find in Anchorage at least. Xalos does it right. The birria tacos are seriously good, especially with the dipping sauce. I got a fajita burrito which was tasty, but had some cold ingredients. It was still delicious though. And the strawberry horchata is a MUST. So good.

Food is authentic. The seasoning has been toned down a bit, but the food is still very good. They have “caldo de res,” Mexican style beef and vegetable soup. Their street tacos (taco placero) are legit.

My husband and I ordered guacamole dip and two bowls of Pozole. The guacamole did NOT seen Fresh at all to us, nor did the chips it came with. The pozole was excellent! The restaurant could use a good painting, and scrubbing for sure!

Not a bad place atmosphere and service I give 3 because of cleanliness, not very quick to cleanup tables. checking supplies like forks,spoons were all empty. Food was not bad but served on a pizza plate with chips and a burrito wrapped in tinfoil come on. Do better.

I went in to for Birria tacos and I sure enjoyed it. I spent $15.95 for a plate, 3 tacos in the place with the sauces and lemons. Had a crunched on the taco and a mild spicy to it. All the ingredients balance however some onions in there would complete it. Nice and soft, they have a huge menu I recommend you to give this place a try.

I got the picante burrito and my friend got the super burrito. I tried the hot sauce, the regular sauce, restaurant style salsa the avocado creme and the regular salsa. It was all very good definitely worth the cost. The dining and kitchen area is very clean. The service staff was very nice.

For some reason, this branch of Xalos is so mediocre compared to the others. Both the food and service are bland and underwhelming. This location has forgotten the consome for my birria tacos twice now and does not include salsa or even ask if you want some like the others always do. Xalos is great, just go to a different location IMO.
