Xi’an Famous Foods 西安名吃 Menu – New York, NY

Type : Chinese restaurant

Location : New York, NY

Xi’an Famous Foods began as a 200 square foot basement stall in the Golden Shopping Mall in Flushing, N.Y. The original location, established in late 2005, was the first restaurant to bring the little-known cuisine of Xi’an to the United States. Since then, it’s become a beloved local fast-casual chain, with locations in New York’s Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens boroughs. As a family-owned business, Xi’an Famous Foods looks to reintroduce the world to the unique western Chinese cuisine of the founder’s hometown through some classic dishes: liang pi “cold-skin noodles, stewed pork burgers, wide hand-pulled “biang biang” noodles, and more, all in their most authentic forms based on family recipes.

The blend of sour and spice is PHENOMENAL!!! Every dish has the perfect blend to keep you hooked. Definitely jam packed with spice but not overly spicy. We loved everything we tried and the food came out fast which was great. The server at the window was helpful in deciding my spice level too

Honestly the noodles are pretty decent and the pork is nicely done but the dumplings leave a lot to be desired. The dumpling skin is so thick that all you taste is the wrapper and the meat barely has any flavor. I would just stick with the hand pulled noodles that are pretty tasty. The chrysanthemum tea also works well cooling off your palate

The hand-pulled noodles are incredible! Super flavorful and spicy (maybe more spicy than your average noodles). Portions are quite decent, and service is fast. Restaurant is clean, so dining in is a pleasant experience.

Delicious thick wide hand pulled noodles with a ton of bounciness to the bite (in a good way). Definitely rate the noodles as authentic to Xi’an cuisine especially with the spice blend mixture. Would highly highly recommend to anyone who can handle at least some spiciness, both the flavor and spiciness come from the sauce so if you choose less or no spicy it will have little taste to it due to the minimal amount of sauce.

Ever since I left NYC 7 years ago I dreamt of coming back to Xi’an, and it seems its popularity has gone to another level in recent years and I am so happy for them!!

I’ve been to Xi’an famous foods a couple of times and both times have been great! I especially recommend the spicy cumin lamb noodles and the liang pi cold noodles (both pictured below). I’ve also gotten the zha jiang noodles and the cumin lamb burger before. The noodles are great and have the right amount of QQ. If you’re not a fan of spicy food I definitely recommend the liang pi noodles which are very refreshing and flavorful. I love spice and so really enjoyed the spicy cumin lamb noodles. Price point is really good and the portions are generous. They also have some nice cold teas – I always get the chrysanthemum tea as it is nostalgic for me.

I’ve tried Xian famous foods at both Brooklyn and Chelsea, and they’re both very good. Glad you can always be within 10min to one of their locations. The noodles are bouncy since it’s hand pulled. The sauce was spicy and cumin filled. The meat was tender. I’m glad more people are becoming aware of Xian cuisine. Cumin lovers unite.
