A great place for dinner. Very creative and delicious sushi rolls. Nice wine selection. The beef ramen bowl was really good as well. The service was delightful. My only negative would be the price for the serving size. It’s a little high but not outrageous.

My husband and I eat sushi ALL the time! Every time we visit a new city we look for a sushi spot! Yama was recommended to us and it did NOT disappoint!!! The ambience was beautiful, the staff was so down to earth! The food: WOW!!! Flavorful, beautiful to look at and just GOOD!!! Awesome menu, well done Jesse! Thank you for the experience!!! Please visit Yama when you’re in Steamboat!!!

Went here for a “date night” while on vacation and was pleasantly surprised. While it’s not a purist’s sushi spot it was quite good and the dishes were tasty and well-executed. A little on the pricey side when portion sizes are taken into account but still good.

We had a great experience at Yama! Our server Nick was really nice and very attentive. The kitchen was also super accommodating of my dietary needs, which I appreciated. All in all, a great restaurant and we will be going back 🙂

Took 30 minutes to get drinks. Poor service. The pork ramen made myself and two of my friends sick. Also when I checked my credit card statement, they charged $118.28 when our meal was $55 with tip… still working on getting this corrected. Terrible experience. Also note, the majority of “5 star reviews” all come from local guides who obviously don’t want to rate anything poorly.

Sushi rice was cold, hard & powdery from refrigeration, the way rice gets hard when its refrigerated. Not authentic Japanese. Noodles mediocre grade. What you would expect from a small town out west. Service was good. Pricey, for 2 sushi special rolls and ramen.

I will never be coming back. We made a reservation for our friends 30th birthday. We were 20 minutes early for our reservation but it took 20 minutes to even get acknowledge so we could check in. Took an hour to get drinks and still didn’t get all of them and one persons drink had 6 or 7 fruit flies in it, the replaced drink STILL had bugs. Half the group never got their food. After being there a total of 2 hours, we left and went somewhere else. Horrible experience, don’t ever go to eat here.

My wife and I are visiting from Texas. We always look for sushi and a steak house when traveling.

Probably the best sushi in town, definitely check it out if you like sushi, sit at the bar, watch them cook, chances are you’ll get an extra treat. We got a delicious soft boiled egg shot with truffle oil and pepper, delish!

Service was great, edamame and JFC were pretty tasty. Entrees were lackluster… The house ramen was salty and the broth wasn’t tasty. We ate only the noodles since the mushrooms were also really salty. The signature sushi bowl was passable, the sesame ahi Yama plate had no flavor. Best part of the meal; the drinks… Unfortunately the food isn’t worth the price.
