We started as a family business that first opened our door in 2003. Calling ourselves as just Yama at the time, we only had four tables, truly being just a hole in the wall. Through an arduous process of many trial and errors, Andy Chen was able to perfect the now YamaChen menu to that we know today. Each day, for our customers, Andy Chen brainstormed ways to improve the quality of our food, from our in house sauce to our fish providers, creating the signature YamaChen rolls that solidifies our place in the restaurant sphere. He believes that his success is due to his motto: Freshness, Sincerity, and Generosity.

Yama Chen is a new place. Every place needs to fall into it’s niche with it’s patrons. If you are looking for a traditional sushi place you may have mixed feelings. This place is all about sushi rolls. They have varieties of it here some sashimi as well. The atmosphere is minimalist but cozy. The rolls we ordered had just the right amount of rice. Some may prefer thick Do mention and they can oblige. The cucumber salad was so refreshing and good I ordered it twice and added a bit of soy sauce and it was heavenly. The spring rolls are also good. Overall the taste, freshness, simplicity, and their prices will have us visit soon. Other than soy sauce dishes that need to be on the table and perhaps a little colder rice on the rolls and slightly warmer miso which are minor it was a great experience. The staff was super attentive. They are trying hard to impress and I think with a little tweaking they have it down. Give this place a try and see for yourself. You will be impressed by it’s simplicity and offerings….

This sushi restaurant is so cute! It had the most delicious food and excellent service! We were suprised with spring rolls with our meal and a yummy cheese cake dessert! I only wish I had taken pictures of my sushi! It was a beautiful presentation! My friends and I will be back! 🙂

Restaurant just opened a month ago and I went and tried the 2 roll lunch special. Spicy salmon roll and super dooper roll was recommended by the staff and did not disappoint. Rice tasted great and the eel, avocado and spicy salmon portions were generous. The rolls were 8 pieces instead of 6 so super filling plus a side of edamame. Could have added salad for 1.95 but I was already stuffed. Would come back with friends and get the sushi boat. Place looks nice and clean and I would dine in or do take out.

I came to this restaurant for to go and as soon as I entered, I loved the interior, so I decided to dine in. The host Mellisa was very welcoming and friendly. I loved miso soup, seaweed salad, edamame and sweet potato sushi rolls. I was also offered complimentary little piece of cheesecake and simply enjoyed my delicious meal.
