We started as a family business that first opened our door in 2003. Calling ourselves as just Yama at the time, we only had four tables, truly being just a hole in the wall. Through an arduous process of many trials and errors, Andy Chen was able to perfect the now YamaChen menu to that we know today. Each day, for our customers, Andy Chen brainstormed ways to improve the quality of our food, from our in house sauce to our fish providers, creating the signature YamaChen rolls that solidify our place in the restaurant sphere. He believes that his success is due to his motto: Freshness, Sincerity, and Generosity.

What a wonderful atmosphere to walk into. Very kind employees. Extremely clean, neat and tidy. The food was absolutely phenomenal!!! We were just in awe at the generosity and just all around quality of their sashimi. Our waiter was on top of it, had the best recommendations, best service, and manors. He was very knowledgeable with the menu was able to answer all our questions with ease.

Not sure if tonight was an off night or not but the food wasn’t as good as I expected. I typically go to the Yama on Volvo Parkway but it had been closed for over a year due to fire. I was excited when a friend told me about this location. This location looks better than the Volvo Parkway location however, our excitement quickly subsided once the sushi rolls arrived. We get the Iron man roll everytime we go but it didn’t taste as good here. I’m not sure why but it wasn’t the same. Our food came out really fast and the waiter mentioned that they had done a lot of prep work for the day so maybe that’s the reason why food wasn’t as good (because it wasn’t fresh and had been sitting out to long). Either way I’m not sure if I’ll be back to this location.

Easily the best place for sushi on this side of the bridge. Always friendly and always giving just a little bit more. While I do enjoy going there for dining in, this is the only sushi place I trust for take out or delivery. Presentation is stellar and always looking good

Would rate it a 4-4.5. The presentation of the food was wonderful and customer service was friendly. My sushi was good as well as my appetizers I had. Only thing that bothered me was the taste of the miso soup. Just didn’t have enough richness to it that I’m used too. But that could be from the type of miso they use for there broth. The cucumber sake was wonderful! Would recommend it to anyone that enjoys sake. Would definitely go again and try from there menu.
