When it opened in 2015, the clean brick-walled space, gentle prices, and speedy counter service made this Shanghainese street-food destination feel like a chain in waiting. The big surprise might be that everything else on the menu delivers, too: Firm cold noodles stand up to their peanut dressing; chunks of chilled cucumber are tossed with garlic; and the pan-fried baos, with their pillowy tops and toasty bottoms, are among the best dumplings in New York.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Yaso Jersey City. I ordered the braised fish Aozao noodle, and it was an explosion of flavor in every bite. The fish was tender and perfectly cooked, while the noodles were cooked to perfection and had just the right amount of chewiness. The broth was flavorful and rich, and the dish as a whole was incredibly satisfying.

This place is fantastic. The setting is ideal for a casual lunch or dinner and is easily accessible. It is less than a minute walk from the Essex light rail stop. They had bar seating with an open window view as well as group seating for larger groups. I had the chicken and beef soup dumplings and the spicy pork pot stickers, which were both delicious. The presentation was lovely, and the food was magnificent!

Hair hanging around in my miso soup was a bad start to a medicore curry meal with low quality pork. East Hudson and Yaso are apparently the same just a marketing technique to get rid of bad reviews I assume …

A great option with pretty reasonable prices. We got the Curry Chicken Baos & Fried Chicken Dumplings, both were average, The baos texture was fluffy and airy but the filling was just too sweet for me. However we loved the big bright space.

Ordered lunch here and it was great. The food tasted amazing and service was quick. You can order from a kiosk here or online. Would recommend the hot noodle with peanut and seasame sauce.

I wanted to love it, but didn’t. Giving 4 star because I got my value (during restaurant week, spend $10 & get 4 soup dumplings for $1), but I’m not very sure if it’s worth it on regular pricing. Maybe it is, because there are not many better chinese options around, but I’d rather eat in manhattan chinatown than here.

Okay so I have wanted to go to this place for a long time and I did. I ordered soup dumplings and they were okay. Tbh they tastes like Costco frozen dumplings and the taste is very obvious. We waited almost 30 mins for 8 pieces of soup dumplings which is alright. I personally would have bought the soup dumplings from Costco instead. The server was alright no complaints I guess. Although my friend found a hair in her food and she asked them to replace it but they only have her one back which was odd. This place is okay but it’s not my favorite place to go to and most likely I wouldn’t come back.

Pretty awesome place and location. it can be a little hard to find since the entrance is next to the light rail tracks. we had the soy garlic fried rice and braised tofu and both dishes were very flavorful. Service was quick though we went on a Saturday (lunch). Vegetarian friendly, decent portion sizes as well. Will be trying the dumplings and other dishes next time.
