Abita Root Beer
Abita Root Beer is made with a hot mix process using spring water, herbs, vanilla and yucca (which creates foam). Unlike most soft drink manufacturers, Abita sweetens its root beer with pure Louisiana cane sugar. The resulting taste is reminiscent of soft drinks made in the 1940s and 1950s, before bottlers turned to corn sugar and fructose. Some soft drink makers add caffeine to their product, but Abita is naturally caffeine-free

I love this place. I stop by whenever I’m in IN. They have several vegetarian items on the menu, and everything is good, but the bread is the best. Also, crystal hot sauce is my favorite.

The French bread is absolutely amazing! This isn’t true Cajun food but probably the closest you will find here. I felt that the prices were reasonable and the service wasn’t bad either. If nothing else, I’ll be returning for the bread.

Stopped in for lunch while scoping out apartments in Valpo. Loved the fast service and friendly conversation from Robyn – had the cheese etoufee and jambalaya – both tasty and they had three dollar abita beer specials to boot. For just over eight bucks, a huge plate of cajun food was delivered – and tasted pretty darn good for being in the midwest. Robyn explained that the owner hailed from the land of parishes instead of counties like up North, and even gave me some great tips for local brews. Great food and experience – check this place out.

The Yats of Indy has arrived in the Region! Great portions with friendly and menu-informed staff. They aren’t kidding when they describe the buttery bread served alongside their dishes.

I’ve been to this one, the one at ND and the one in Fishers. All are excellent and have their own feel. This one is rather large and bright. Nice touches throughout and plenty of outside setting for nice weather. The day I was there the guy running the place was excellent. More friendly than I like, but I’m an introvert. Service was excellent. red beans and sausage was great. Highly recommend.

The food was pretty good! I went back up to order more of their delicious bread. While waitting for my order I made small talk with the employee running the register. I was informed that the food is not actually cooked fresh there. It is simply frozen bagged, and warmed up for us. The bread is fresh… But that’s it.

I have to assume most people are rating the atmosphere (which is fun) or the bar which is huge. The food however is just gravies on white rice. Don’t get me wrong it’s not bad it’s OK but it’s nothing like true Cajun so don’t expect that. This is a college town bar restaurant for kids. Go there have fun and have a beer. Just don’t expect anything great. Personally, if I’m eating of a paper plate it should be in my back yard. Hey it looks like a fun place for the college kids though. Two stars for me isn’t terrible I’m very hard on restaurants. Most good restaurants to me are three stars.

We used to go frequently. Only vegan and 1 vegetarian choice. Neither were very good. The bread is still good and the reason for any stars. We won’t be back as even the meat eaters in our group were disappointed. Novelty gone and we want/except good food.
