If you arrive SFO at night there’s very little meal option, but if you stay at Aloft SFO (as well as Sheraton next door) you can have hot Ramen anytime with Yo-kai automatic cooking robot.

Coolness factor aside, once the machine delivered my hot bowl of soup, the machine didn’t cook the noodles long enough for them to be hot. haha. No – really. Everything was just kind of lukewarm. (I got the Pho)

So this really is noodle soup vending machine! You push a few buttons and your piping hot noodle soup comes out of a slot in the box a minute later. And you know what? The food is surprisingly decent! So, while I would probably rate the food quality 3 stars overall, I’m giving this experience an extra star purely for the novelty and entertainment value.

The first day i arrived at the hotel, I decided to give it a try. Ordered 3 meals. The first one chicken tom yum was fine but the 2nd and 3rd beef pho and spicy kimichi ramen was frozen. I thought when i handled the bottom as instructed it was fine. When I went to my room I was disappointed. The water had partially entered the pho but didnt not cook all the way and the water never entered the spicy kimchi. I had to go back down to the hotel microwave to cook meal. Later i sent a message to the company, I did receive a comment back to refund but they wanted my credit card number. In skepticism i only gave the last 4 because there should be a way to track the transactions. Or just issue a promo. Atleast I know if it happens again I know what to do to still get a good meal out of it. But for a first transaction I feel cheated. Still waiting for the company to make it right. Plus im leaving soon so its on a timer. Please make right Yo Kai express. Sad i didn’t take pictures of food because i was disappointed but heres is something to identify the bowls. 2 STARS

The bowl size is big, the food is very hot and tasty. The noodle quality is top notch. I’m a ramen lover and this machine is fantastic! Great selection of ramen, rice bowls and other things. Hope they add more locations at hotels and public areas around major cities. It’s a game changer, close to one of the things that make Japan a very cool country. Hope to see these great machines around the US too. Great job Yo-kai!

I stayed at Aloft on a quick business trip and arrived late at night. Everything was closed so I gave this machine a try. I was hoping for the beef noodle soup but it was sold out. I ordered some other noodle something dish (can’t remember the exact name). Surprisingly it was pretty decent for a vending machine. The food was hot, tasty, and it hit the spot when I needed it. For the price I was very satisfied and would definitely eat again. I just wish it wasn’t sold out of so many choices. It’s worth a try when you want something quick and convenient.

Westin restaurant had a long line. We were hungry and tried this. It was surprisingly good. I had the Taiwan noodles and it was good. You definitely need to stir the bowl or you will get a very spicy bite.

I used my Australian card and was charge a $5 USD pre authorisation and then $14 USD for the bowl (twice as I bought 2 meals) and was never refunded the preauthorised $5 USD. Ended up costing $30 AUD each bowl! Spoke with Yo Kai who said I would get the preauthorised $5 USD back and a month later, nothing. Avoid using non USA cards (at an airport hotel ) as it’ll steal your cash.

It was great to see an Asian option early in the morning when other restaurants are closed. However, the product dies not deserve it’s $13 price tag. The broth was very watery and the ramen came out lukewarm. Not was I dispensed any utensils to eat with. Accordingly I was very disappointed.
