One of my favorite barbecue places in the world. This family started off small in San Saba, and then moved to Lampasas. All of their meats are top notch. Today I had a smoked meatloaf. Yum! I’m also a big sauce guy and theirs is peppery with the right amount of vinegar. None of that overly sweet thick stuff. Love the sides esp the slaw. Tell Teresa I said hi.

Brisket shouldn’t be grey. Someone’s meemaw made this in the oven, then stuck it on a smoker to make it smell like BBQ. Zero bark, no color, and dry AF. I would have gone back to try something else but the Trump flag with profanity & all the employees smoking out back ruined that chance. I doubt this spot will stay open for too long.

Ordered the stuffed potato along with brisket taco. My second time here and this place does not disappoint!! My new go to spot when we have bbq cravings. Great service and very friendly.

Asked for the fat part of brisket, got lean, had good flavor but not as tender as the cap part. Pinto beans bland, pea salad homemade and decent. Only had bread pudding, didn’t have desert. First and last time going. One more thing, $25 for a small quantity of meat. Good luck Young’s BBQ.

Ordered the two meat plate. Brisket was a generous slice through the point and flat. Seasoning was very good, but I prefer less of a fat cap. Pulled pork was lean and the smoke came through just fine. Coleslaw was heavy on the pepper and different from most places. Potato salad was standard. Probably the most interesting aspect was the heavily seasoned sauce. I would recommend this place just for the sauce. I’ve heard the turkey is excellent and would try it along with the sausage on my next visit.

I first ate at Young’s BBQ at the old location on a motorcycle trip…after smelling the smoke I promptly turned around and rode back. Great choice me, probably the best Texas BBQ I’ve ever had. Wanted to take my girlfriend, so routed our last trip through Lampasas but was surprised when it wasn’t where I remembered. To be fair, I didn’t recall the name, but after considering other options (several in town that are really good) we settled on Young’s. I was ready to put a good face on what expected to be an ok lunch rather than the sublime experience I’d had before, but imagine my surprise when I saw the same staff and menu! Apparently the previous location burned down, but I can report they’ve done a great job moving both the flavor and atmosphere to the new location in town. As before, 6/5 stars for flavor.

After waiting in line for 20, we finally approached close enough to the register to see a sign that said cash only. The staff could have easily made sure everyone in the line knew the internet was downand it was cash only.

Asked for lean brisket, one whole pound. Got home, opened the package. At least a quarter of it was fat. I told them my palate doesn’t accept fat well. Also looked small amount to be a whole pound.

We were out on a day trip and located Young’s because they were dog friendly. I went inside to order while my partner stayed with the dogs outside. While ordering, the lady said we could bring the puts inside since it was getting warm outside. I proceed to order brisket and Jalepeno/cheese sausage and my partner had brisket and pulled pork. All had great flavor with my only comment being there was excessive fat within the brisket, but I did not specify otherwise. Young’s was worth the trip and we will stop again when we day trip to visit vineyards in the area.

$45 lunch for 2. You order off a white board menu based on what’s available for the day. We each opted for a 2 meat plate with drink, bringing our total to $45. The brisket was very tender but we weren’t too fond of the flavor. The barbeque sauce has a strong vinegar base and was a very liquid consistency. A hearty lunch although we wouldn’t go out of our way to return. The turkey was very good. Large, handicap accessible restrooms. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Self service drinks with tea and a Pepsi product fountain machine.
