I’m from NYC and have had incredible sushi throughout my life. This is definitely the best sushi in all of Pittsburgh. The fish quality is so good and the owner gets the fish from Japan. Prices are super reasonable. The portions are MASSIVE and the lunch special is such a great deal.

The sushi pizza was amazing!! However, the menu and white board aren’t displaying the correct prices. The whiteboard showed $9 for the sushi pizza but it was $18, and the rainbow roll was supposed to be $12 but I was charged $16. I thought my bill would be closer to $21 but it was $36 which is significant. Because the food was so good and the service was quick & friendly (walked in & ordered & had my food in under 10 minutes) I would considering coming back once they update their display prices.

This unassuming sushi restaurant has the highest quality fish I’ve ever had at Pittsburgh, and it’s quality even rivals that of gi-jin and kiku. I had the sashimi platter and all of the fish were wild caught and delicious. The highlight though, was their tuna sashimi, which is bluefin tuna if I had to guess. Compared to normal tuna you find at sushi places (which is either big eye or yellowfin), bluefin tuna is more rare and delicious. The cut of tuna they served is also very prized (something closer to chutoro than akami). If you are a tuna lover, you got to try the tuna here. Albeit, the restaurant and service can be rather unassuming, but the quality of raw ingredients here is unmatched.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed our dinner reservation tonight. The reservation itself was super easy to make online and we ended up being the only ones on an early Thursday night. The food was super tasty and we especially loved the Peking duck roll. Great sushi place!

We went on a Sunday at around 4:45 pm, and the restaurant was completely empty except for us. Nonetheless, the server (the ONLY server) took a while to come take our orders. The server gave our 1 year old and 3 year old kids glass cups of ice water, and I had to ask for straws. These cups did not have lids. I asked for my kids to share one pork katsu special from their whiteboard, but they served two instead. This whiteboard didn’t even list what the prices were. Thankfully they did not charge us for two, but it took an extremely long time of waiting for the server to come back to check on us. They never came back with a receipt, so I had to get up and ring a bell and wait for a receipt. There are signs posted everywhere about how short-staffed they are, and how you can kindly leave if you don’t want to wait. I considered leaving without paying for our meal. I thought that would be horrible and decided to wait even longer. Finally a person came to ring me out but they didn’t even tell me the total or give me a breakdown of the receipt before taking my card and charging me. All the while, I was asking for the total, and he just said he would give me money back if it’s wrong.

You get 4 Star for now. Could be 5 because of the sushi and Sashimi which could be competitive with Kiku in station square, but sadly the lack of care for everything else is visible. So -1 for that.

The sashimi quality is good and stable. They mixed pickles in the sushi rice, i usually ask them to put it on the side. Don’t expect a fancy dining environment, but definitely worth trying the sushi and sashimi.
