Excellent food and service. The wait for the food was very fast. The boiled fish is very spicy and the portion is large enough for two people. The mint beef was a new dish for me. It was well-executed, but the flavors are not for my palate. The coconut milk is indeed milk with bread on top and tapioca pudding. Water was refilled frequently. Servers were all pleasant and answered questions happily.

Had lunch with my family at Yunnan Kitchen for the first time. Had some good items on the menu. Food was good and flavorful. My daughter loved the chicken stir fry udon which she ate so much. The Xuanwei ham & potato rice was more on the salty side but was complemented great with the Sweet & sour fish fillet! Also tried coconut delight, eight treasure rice pudding, and fried cheese all were delicious and the overall food experience was different with other Chinese restaurant around Boston and it was awesome.

We came here on a Saturday night without a reservation, so we had to wait 30 minutes to get seated since it was pretty packed inside. Once we ordered, the food came out extremely quickly. We got the fried mushrooms, potato pancake, veggie udon noodles, and the tofu with peppers. Everything was flavorful and the quantities were pretty large. Prices are a bit high but would recommend!

Finally tried the Boiled Pork in Chill Oil dish, AMAZING. I also had the Beef Stir Fried Udon just as DELICIOUS . It’s very spicy ️ so be ready for it.

The food was authentic according to my coworker, but we found it to be a bit overpriced for 4 people. The worst dish had to be the fried mushrooms. They were cold, chewy, and felt like they had been sitting out. The steamed pot chicken, however, was quite nice and warming. Service was friendly, but the 18/20/25% options for tips was off-putting. Would be great if the waiters/waitresses had higher salaries, given the price of the food.

Staff was so friendly!! They helped with menu choices and recommendations. Very attentive. We did have lunch early so it was fairly slow so we enjoyed the personal attention.

Went to this authentic Chinese restaurant 3 times in February and it became one of my favorite restaurants in Boston! Xuanwei Ham & Potato Rice is soooooo good! You have to try their Coconut Delight, Yongping braised chicken, and Grandma’s potato!

Service was barely satisfactory. One entry served before starters, incorrect entree delivered and replacement was not escalated in kitchen. Took over 15 minutes to get correct entree

We ate here for dinner while touring Boston. This restaurant was a short walk from our hotel. It was great. The food was authentic and well flavored. My wife tried the “first kiss” drink and loved it. The meals were wonderful and the wait staff took great care of us. A refreshing change from the Chinese food that I usually run across. The meals were focused on the meat and flavors with an assortment of great veggies. You had to ask for rice as an added side (got it for my picky 9 year old). The meatballs with sticky rice were a wonderful appetizer.

10/10 on service, 9/10 on ambiance, 8/10 on taste, 7/10 on authenticity. This is a solid place for those looking to try more “authentic” Chinese food for the first time as the menu has unique regional dishes that are fairly approachable, but it doesn’t top my list for a place I’d go to with someone from China. All of the dishes we ordered were good but not outstanding, I think the green pepper and beef stirfry was probably the top pick for me. Chicken and the sticky rice cakes were both a little dry imo but the sticky rice meatballs and spicy boiled fish are both solid dishes to order. Our servers were incredibly friendly and the food came very quickly, so I’d definitely come back with the right group of people to try other dishes on the menu!
