I was very pleasantly surprised by this hole in the wall Indian restaurant inside a gas station/ liquor store in Slidell. An adult Indian couple runs it and now, I must have ordered takeout 4 times in the past 6 months from ‘em. Yesterday I ordered, dal makhani ($10), Channa masala ($10), paneer tikka ($12) and goat karahi ($16) plus 4 paranthas for $1.50 each so the total was around $60 bucks. I’ll tell you straight off the bat, never order nan, paranthas or anything from ‘em because they’re literally buying in in frozen packs from the Indian store and warming it up for you. So never again because I’ve those frozen packs at home. That being said, their vegetarian entree and even the non-veg goat was decent. The old man adds lots of ghee ‘butter’ into everything but thats what gives it the taste. It’s better than to drive 35 miles to ‘Mantra’ (#2 Indian restraint) in New Orleans or 55 miles in hammond to ‘Punjabi Dhaba’ (#1 Indian restaurant) and it has buffet) because they’re right here on Spanish trail road in Slidell. So daal was ok, chana masala was alright and goat was decent but paneer pieces were little hard for my taste. Also, I asked the guy to make paneer tikka ‘spicy’ but he didn’t do it so No Good. In my experience, the place has a 50% success rate as every time, I’ve ordered couple of entrees, one was good but the other one was mediocre. Also, in the past, I ordered chicken tikka masala from ‘em and the chicken was not fresh so obviously, the dish didn’t come out good, hence, order at your own risk. I’ll only recommend vegetarian dishes from this place and their Raita (yogurt) was too go be true and free so do give ‘em a try!

Delicious Indian takeout! I finally tried this place (the only Indian food I can find on the northshore) and was impressed. We tried the aloo gobi, channa masala, palek paneer, samosas, and naan. Everything was delicious but unfortunately I didn’t realize the biryani rice had chicken in it, so as vegetarians we couldn’t eat any of it. I didn’t realize it until I was home. The guy working was super friendly and even offered to make pakora, which isn’t on the menu, if we called ahead.

First of all, I’m from the subcontinent, so I know what this food is supposed to taste like having eaten it daily at home…….and it is phenomenal pakistani/Indian food! Everything here is pretty much on par. Chicken karhai, butter chicken and biryani are the best dishes here. You can even request specialty dishes such as kebabs and tikka (not ‘chicken tikka masala’, but actual chicken tika which is bbq chicken). Since they make it homestyle, the flavour might change slightly from meal to meal, but not enough to deviate from what its supposed to taste like.

Good Indian food. Takeout only. It’s not the real Restaurent it’s a small food station in old gas station . limited menu but food is yummy. Wish there is a full service Indian restaurant in Slidell. where we can enjoy family restaurant.
