I had been shopping over at the Walmart in the same lot and it had been a long day. I had a car full of stuff to take home knew I didn’t want to cook that evening. Long story shore I decided to give Zaxby’s a try. I’ve been wondering about the place for a while and I’m glad I visited.

Overall I have to rate my experience a 2 stars just due to how poorly the employees treated my fiancé and I. We came in 20 minutes before closing due to problems ordering within the app. We walked up to the front to place our order and an employee ( 16/17 year old boy with brown hair ) at register seemed to have an issue with everything we said and was extremely rude. Kept messing up our order just due to how little he was paying attention (only one meal and a side of tenders to go) , giving us weird looks, and giving us an attitude. One of the Zaks sauces was also punctured in the bag of sauces we received spilling all over the rest of them, which we were charged for. 2 stars because food was decent (have eaten at this zaxbys location multiple times in the past with no issue and really enjoyed the food), had potential but was obviously rushed. Really sad to see that more and more places seem to care less about customer service and find it odd an establishment wouldn’t want to accept business during open hours. This is my review.

My first time trying Zaxbys and it wasn’t great. The pickles tasted okay but then I realized they were sitting in a puddle of grease. The chicken was dry and didn’t have a lot of flavor. Probably won’t be back.

I LOVE Zaxbys… but this location is too hit or miss to count on it to be good. I have a 15 minute drive to my house from zaxbys, so I typically don’t notice deficiencies until I get home. Back in November, I order fried pickles, and was just given dried pieces of fried breading, the pickles barely in any of them. There are times where the order is wrong, such as tonight when I requested extra zax sauce and was only given the specific number of extras requested, or ordered a five finger chicken plate, and was only given 4. I’ve had wonderful customer service, but I’ve also had poor service. Unfortunately it’s a toss up which one I get.

The drive there was very fast and the service was friendly. Unfortunately, it is hard to see the menu until you arrive at the place to order. Therefore, if you are not familiar with the menu you have to decide quickly. Also, the cost of a fourth strip meal was $10 which seems high to me for a fast food meal. The chicken strips were a little tough and had an oily/pickled taste to them.

Yesterday I tried Zaxby’s for the first time. The chicken tenders were amazing, thick and juicy. I tried different sauces, but plain was my favorite. Raising Canes has the hype, but Zaxby’s is better.

The Zaxbys on Hillcrest in Chesapeake is in my experience the best Zaxbys in Virginia. The store is clean and the employees are always exceptionally polite and attentative. This isn’t my local Zaxbys but I wish it were and go there many times a year. The only negative is that the ordering app is often glitchy or off for this particular store but that frustration is offset by excellent customer service.
