We had a late lunch/early supper. The meal was filling and enjoyable. Google thought it was “Busier than Usual” but for a while we were the only customers. They advertised “Open Mike” later. Beer selection was limited with no local craft beer on tap. They did have a fairly unique menu, but not as interesting or tasty as we expected.

Zekes is highly underrated. They season their meat really well. The tacos are completely stuffed, which I love. Everything tastes really fresh whenever I go. Get the macaroni salad for your side!

My first time trying Caribbean style food. The jerk chicken was amazing with the rice and beans. The vegetable roll was even more delicious with the sweet chili sauce. I was very satisfied with my food. My partner got the jerk chicken bowl and he enjoyed his meal as well. Definitely would love to come back and try the other dishes.

Decided to stop in for a new experience tonight. Let’s just say it was underwhelming! After walking in and ordering. We noticed all the food was being cooked in air fryers and instant pots. The food wasn’t disgusting. However, the food is definitley NOT cooked fresh. The grilled shrimp was not grilled. Nor was my Wife’s “NEW” jerk chicken. Which was also prepared in an instant pot. The kitchen looked like a storage bin. Especially underneath the ventilation hood. We won’t be back. Wondering how this place is getting such a good rating and has two more retaurants? If all the food is prepared like the one downtown!?

This place is so up and down. Last experience was not great. The cost you pay for the food is almost ridiculous anymore. I swear they count the chips you receive with your meal. Sliders were meek and the overall portion compared to a few months ago is astonishing. I love the food and used to be an avid visitor but once again taking this off my rotation.

Food was good. We had the 1/2 lb huli huli chicken nachos and sliders with macaroni salad. The sliders were soggy at the bottom and seemed like the macaroni noodles were overcooked. The nachos were great though! I also had a cocktail that was refreshing.

The food is the star here for me. Which is what I want. We didn’t come during live music but at dinner on a Saturday. It was not busy but that didn’t mean the staff was attentive rather it meant they were a bit laxidazical. Fine you’re on island time, not rushing. The portions are impressive and the taste more so. The food is the star here with the drinks many there to pad profits.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is fun and inviting. The stage is a great asset. Called ahead, and our table was waiting for us, and we were welcomed by the waitress. The food, though? Did not impress. The sweet chili shrimp and rice dish were soaked in sauce and were hard to eat. The egg roll was a big plus. The rest of the group enjoyed nachos and teriyaki rice.

Both entrees were inedible due to how salty they were, as if someone spilled a salt shaker into them, not sure if normally like this or was a mistake. The jerked pork was very tender but lacked seasonings other than salt, the Huli chicken was the same, coleslaw tasted like it was just cabbage and mayonnaise. We threw both dishes away . I get that this is Iowa and people enjoy bland food but this was awful even by rural Midwest standards. The workers were friendly and I doubt they were responsible for the bad food
