Best sushi in Schenectady for at least a decade. Never had a bad meal. Just keep an eye out for if the sushi chef got a haircut that day. I’ve had a couple times where his hair has dropped on my sushi. He just needs to shower after a haircut and this place would be 5/5. Picking tiny hairs out of my sushi is like a game of Russian roulette at this point. But the wait staff is nice, and I’ll play tiny hair Russian roulette once a week at least.

Really nice bar. Bartender was running around making drinks, hosting, and serving customers. The food was unfortunately very bland, and for the price is very disappointing. I got basil fried rice, the chicken was unseasoned, and you almost had to add soy sauce to give it any flavor. I would ask for the servers suggestion next time. Also, using red onions in fried rice and other cooked dishes just obliterates the great onion taste. I’ve never seen them used in cooking when eating out other than in salads, salsas, and on burgers. Just something I found interesting and could correlate with the lack of flavor.

Ate at the bar. Bartender was busting her butt making drinks, running food, getting set up dishes etc. Plenty of other servers are working. Some are serving tables some are just standing around. This bartender but was doing the work of 3 people. Watched a server eat from a plate that was next to customers as she interacted with 2 very loud obnoxious people who continued to tell anyone who would listen how they were “regulars” and called the place “home”. App arrived and was excellent. Spouses food, beef noodles, arrives and no sign of mine. He waits to eat and his noodles are now cold. 10 minutes later my sushi rolls arrive. After eating you could see into the kitchen where someone was making food without gloves. Such terrible misuse of some staff and incompetents of others.

Rude and extremely ill prepared on a show night at Proctors. Only had one waitress, one sushi chef at 6pm. Told they could seat us despite not having a reservation and waitress would be right out to take our order. After we sat there with no one helping us for 15 minutes we went to ask if we could have our order taken. The hostess was very rude saying she had no idea when we could be helped and that everyone there had made a reservation. My question is, why tell us you could seat and serve us then?? Just tell us that you can’t without reservations!! That would have been fine than to have us sit and wait without anyone even addressing us or bringing water. F that place. Go to Jade Bistro in Scotia. Better environment and service.

So to me this place would have gotten a 5 star review but i did not like how me and my date were treated. To give context, this place closes at 10pm not 9:15, 9:30 or 945, i also understand as some who work in the restaurant/customer service industry that serving customers that last hour is sometimes the worse and most inconvenient, but it is still your job. We arrived at 9:15pm yes very late, when we went to order the sushi bar was closed we were upset because of this but understood so we brushed it off. In my opinion there should be some kind of notice on their website or just a disclaimer that the sushi bar closes at a specific time, if there is one my date and I did not see it. on to customer service our server was a lady of Asian decent obviously very annoyed we showed up late our first interaction with her wasn’t the most pleasant, again it is 930pm when we sat down to order and was told hurry up the kitchen closed in 10 mins, very annoyed and confused we did ordered food. Now after the first interaction she came back and was very pleasant and relaxed which made the experience the better. Now lets get to the best part the food was AMAZING took less then 5 or ten mins to get out and it tasted very good my date and I love it, we got some hot sake and enjoyed our little 30 mins, the atmosphere was pleasant but there were fruit flies everywhere near our drinks in our soup and salad kind of ruined the first experience for me. You could tell they wanted us to leave. Again I understand the time of when we arrived was very close to closing so I’m more understanding of the situation. I would intend to go to this place again in the future but during normal business hours so I don’t feel rushed and unwelcomed. All of this aside I recommend trying the food at this location I 1000% guarantee you wont regret it. All else aside I don’t hold this experience against eh restaurant for I understand how it feels to deal with dine in last minute customers just remember its the job you signed up for and you are still a representation of the company you work for.
