#11 WS Wine of the Year
“The stunning bouquet of ripe black cherry, black currant, leather and woodsy spice notes is enticing, while the sweet fruit is a match for the dense structure. The lengthy finish lingers, with tobacco, eucalyptus and iron accents. Drink now through 2030. 12,200 cases made.

Domenico Clerico Barolo
Monica Larner (ROME WINE CRITIC) “Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, 95 points, “The 2011 Barolo Ciabot Mentin is impressive on many levels. This wine always seems to excel in the warm vintages, as is the case here. The bouquet is generous, opulent and inviting with plush, rich dark fruit that is enhanced with spice, grilled herb and dark mineral nuances. The quality of fruit is profound and meaningful, and the wine offers a fluid presentation of aromas that changes as it evolves in the glass. Soft tannins add to the full-bodied build and sheer muscle of the wine. What I love most is the tonic energy it also offers. –

Sottimano Barberesco
Full bodied-
Red sauces, Steaks, Salmon will work as well.
The 2014 Sottimano Barbaresco Pajoré hails from ~70 year old vines in the chalky soils of Treiso. This is a wine of exceptional nuance and elegance. The nose exhibits wildflowers, cinnamon, sweet tobacco and graphite, and the tannins are unmistakingly velvety. Rich red fruit and spice emerge on the palate, segueing into an elongated finish. Hold.

Zucca hosted my son’s rehearsal dinner for 80. Absolutely the best experience. Brian and his amazing staff made the night unforgettable. Food and cocktails were delicious. Brian was so flexible and reassuring at every request and change we made. All of the guests were blown away and most importantly, the happy couple was delighted…HIGHLY recommend!!

Everything for our evening at Zucca went wonderfully. We had a great time they let us stay late. The food was excellent. The beverages were fantastic and I have nothing but good things to say about this restaurant. I have been here many times, and I will continue to return as it’s one of my favorite restaurants in the Louisville area.

Food was delicious, service was great. We enjoyed everything we ordered. Photos are the Mista Salad and Bruschetta I was enjoying everything so much that I forgot to take pictures the rest of our food. Chicken Parm, Pesto Rigatoni, Spaghetti and Meatballs and Chicken Genovese. And Fettuccine Quatro Formaggio. Would definitely recommend all of these dishes and the the restaurant as well!

For a small place, the restaurant is very cozy and well appointed. The service was friendly. The front of the house is a little new. Our server was excellent. Now, the food. The parmesan chicken was over cooked and very salty but still food. The pizza, and we love pizza, we couldn’t eat. Thin wood oven pizza. Hard and burnt. The char wasn’t just on the bottom, was all around the crust edge. If the food was better, I will visit the place often.

Zucca is about as authentic as it gets in Louisville. Make sure you get reservations though! I didn’t and was stuck in a wind storm (by my own choice, not the fault of the waiters) but the waiters tried everything to keep me and my family warm while making me laugh. After we moved in, the atmosphere was great. The food was very good (get the brussel sprouts!) but, based on what I got as a vegetarian, I would probably come back for other food. I would love to try different food here! The staff is great people who really do care.

Canned chicken was better than what had come with my “Alfredo” that tasted more like a bad Mac and cheese. Chicken was dark meat only. The server was amazing and food came quick, although service was great. All of our party of 3 agreed worst Italian food we’ve ever had. Will never be visiting again.

Mixed reviews of this restaurant in my party. The waiter was great. The happy hour selections were very good (try the olives with lemon zest), though it would have been good to have silverware with them so you can share at a table. The entrees were salty. Most were good anyway. The environment is quite nice and the sound level was low enough that we could have a conversation across the table.

we came here on a whim, really only because boulder never has good italian food. but the reviews were good and the menu looked promising. we joined the waitlist and called fo just see about when we’d be seated, they said 7:20 and we got there right at 7:20 and they were ready for us. the food was really good and surprising. our waitstaff were also friendly and knew the menu. we had the calamari and the garlic bread to start (we’d highly recommend the garlic bread! it was delicious for $7 with 4 big pieces and marinara) the calamari was good too, but the bread definitely beat it. i had the shrimp and scallop squash risotto and it was really good. there were a good amount and size of shrimp and scallops and the risotto was perfectly cooked. my fiancé had the chicken alfredo equivalent and he loved it too. i believe the pasta is made in house and he said it was really good. the drinks are strong though, beware but we didn’t have a problem finishing them. to end, we had the cannolis which were good, but we’re probably going to try a different dessert next time.

Very nice ambience here on a Tuesday night. The food was very good with good care taken around gluten free needs for my wife. I had a very good lasagna – it was a sizeable portion. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was excellent with the addition of cheese and bacon (kind of a winning formula almost always). The quality of ingredients stood out.

Love the food. The flavours of pesto is mouthwatering. Ambiance is perfect. If you have kids, they do have an exclusive kids Menu with good options. Lively staff.
