Boeufhaus, a French and German inspired brasserie, nestled on the border of the Ukrainian Village and Humboldt Park discreetly opened April 9, 2015. Owned by Chefs Brian Ahern and Jamie Finnegan, years of preparation led them to realize they wanted the opening to be a sincere gesture to neighbors and local foodies first. Boeufhaus is the coalescence of old world culinary techniques and contemporary style serving responsibly raised animals and artisanal products—providing a fresh take on classic farm to table fare. And while meat is at the core of the Boeufhaus experience (Boeuf, French for “beef” and Haus, German for “house”), the menu created by Chef Ahern is both balanced and seasonal.

Sat at the bar on a Friday night and started things off with a wonderful Martini. From there we got a half dozen oysters that were shucked perfectly, Escargot that was full of garlic and an amazing 30oz Porterhouse for two. One of the better steaks I have had in Chicago in awhile.

From the service to the food this place was amazing and Brad made the night even better!You could definitely taste flavor throughout every dish. The short rib beignets were amazing and the scallops were big portions and cooked just right. The steak had an amazing flavor, we got the porterhouse and the ribeye. The ribeye had a more umami flavor to it, but it’s amazing how different parts of the porterhouse had different flavors due to one part being a strip and the other a filet. Also the fries couldn’t have been better, especially the aioli to dip in. The sorbet at the end was super refreshing the passion fruit was my favorite! You pay for you what you get when you come here and they do offer menu items to accommodate anyone’s budget, definitely will be back, a top 3 steakhouse in my opinion no doubt!

I give the atmosphere 3 stars, it’s not bad just not my scene. The food and staff were amazing. Seriously best steak I’ve ever had. Worth every penny. However, it was incredibly loud. Not just the music, which was loud but then the crowd yelling over it. You will not have any meaningful conversation here but you will have an amazing meal.

The experience was nice to have for a date night. $97 for the ribeye. Also got two cocktails, side of fries, short rib beignets, and a side of the red wine sauce for the ribeye. At first I thought the ribeye wasn’t going to be enough for bf and I but it was definitely enough. The red wine sauce was DELICIOUS and recommended to us by the waiter. Cocktails are decent. We’re not wine people but maybe I should have tried the wine instead! Beignets are also a must.

What an awesome experience. The drinks were exquisite with quirky cute names and the steak was fabulous. The polenta and other sides were great as well. Wine was top notch and the server ( Christina ) was beyond !!!!!! Will go again
