I have reviewed and eaten at the most expensive and top rated restaurants in all of Manatee and Sarasota County. I’ve been a resident of Manatee County for 45 years. . In my opinion the top restaurant of manatee county! I hesitated to leave this review because I want to keep this restaurant a secret. It is just that good! Once the word gets out you won’t be able to get a reservation and the staff will be overworked. Let me begin by making note that you have to get reservations early. I reserved our table two days in advance. The only reservations available were 5:15 and 7:45. I chose 5:15. The atmosphere of the restaurant was quiet candle lit very soft decorations. Light music playing in the background and a whimsical full size wooden carving of The Blues Brothers. I believe the theme of the French inspired Steakhouse was sort of a mafioso or an Italian Club. The wait staff was very helpful but not intrusive. Professional and very attentive to our needs. We began our meal with a complimentary cup of mango carrot bisque followed by wedge salad with crumbled bacon Gorgonzola heirloom tomatoes and a beautifully balanced house dressing. My son selected a dirty Caesar salad which was a little spicy, just the way he likes salad. We also enjoyed the fried calamari served with marinara and a secret sauce. We shared a bowl of French onion soup. The smoked mozzarella tasted like the chef just took it off the grill. Wonderful flavor perfectly balanced , served with baguette toast. Our main course- Delmonico ribeye, served with whipped potatoes, broccolini and carrots. When the steak arrived it had a beautiful bark perfectly cooked medium rare finished with a lovely light herb butter. When paired with the sauteed mushrooms it melted in your mouth! While making my reservations I told them it was my son’s birthday. They took the time to melt chocolate happy birthday on a plate freeze it. For dessert we ordered a molten chocolate lava cake artfully placed on the happy birthday plate with a candle lit. If I could give this restaurant 10 Stars, I would. When you want a special place to go give Michael John’s a try. This is the one!. And I am always free for dinner…lol

Our server was Lizzie! She is incredible! Took such great care of my needs and wants. She is a star. The entire staff is awesome and helpful. The food was fantastic. Timed well. My only concern was the main dish was served warm and not Hot. This visit was a but less extravagant than my last one, but still fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Came in with a reservation for 2 people at 5:30 and was told not only did they not have our reservation but they had no space for 2 people to eat. There was a total of 19 cars in the parking lot which would have included employees since you can see there is no parking behind the building. Would not try to eat here again.

Chose this place for an anniversary dinner since the menu looked great and definitely made the right choice. The food, drinks, and service were all great! The drinks were strong but still tasty. The appetizers made it hard to leave room for dinner. And the dinner made us want to try and find room for more bites. By the end, we took a lot to go which they boxed for us. Best of all, THEY LABELED THE BOXES!!! The atmosphere was nice as the seating isn’t all in one big room that can get loud during a rush. All the food we had is pictured but we ordered mostly off the “specials” menu so go soon! (Except the crème brûlée cheesecake that had to be taken to go… and that I’m eating while I write this!)

Had a wonderful dinner with my husband. Everything was prepared to perfection! Sad to see a poor review from someone tonight just because highchairs weren’t available. My suggestion to them would be to purchase a portable highchair or boosterseat. They are relatively inexpensive now days and will afford you the ability to actually stay for dinner rather than immediately leaving and posting petty reviews. Love Michael John’s, their staff and food. Highly recommended. Definitely a Bradenton treasure!
