As others have said, it does have a great ambiance. As you enter, you go down the stairs, and everything has a very Tuscan feel to it, but on a smaller scale. The food was delicious!!! We did hafta wait quite a lil while after we placed our order, and the calamari, though seasoned well, had been cooked too long and was more chewy than should be, almost rubbery, but that got taken off. The lasagna was very good!! All in all, a pretty good experience.

Great place..Great food.. And probably perfect for couples. Most of the seats are arrange for 2. We were three and ended up sitting on the walkway which was kind of uncomfortable..

Great ambiance. Delicious crusty bread, light perfect calamari, salad with great house made italian, and yummy rum cake. I had the eggplant parmesan and felt like it was missing some flavor – the marinara just seemed like tomato and I would have loved a little more garlic and basil in the sauce. My husband’s lobster risotto was very good. Amazing service.

After walking down a flight of stairs we entered a lovely atmosphere with brick and wood – neither too dark nor too light – and were shown to a lovely table in back. The professional staff create the ambiance of a marvelous dining experience. Sadly, we did not feel the quality of the food lived up to our expectations. Bread was brought to the table that was very crusty, Luke warm, not well cut through so pulling it apart mangled the slices, no butter or oil, and cup of what we think was old Parmesan cheese. The salads were reasonable but we were surprised by an extra charge for Caesar dressing. The rib eye steak was unremarkable, perhaps more chewy than expected, but the sauce was fine. Chicken Rotolini had the promise of being good but, sadly, the chicken tasted like it had been frozen, overcooked and dry. The fettucine was tasty and had an excellent sauce. We may simply have been there on an off night, but I don’t think I would be eager to return.

Amazing Italian food. Went there 2 nights in a row. Even during the rush they remembered us and gave us the same table and server. Friendly authentic Italian atmosphere. Dimitri was a great server and Emilio in the bar was fantastic. I highly recommend and will look forward to going back!!!

I had the good fortune to have dinner at La Cantina Italian Chophouse with a group of colleagues while in Chicago for a business meeting. It was a great experience! We were given the choice of 3 entrees: eggplant parm, penne with a chicken cream sauce and lasagna. All delicious. The meals were served timely and efficiently to 20 guests. Choice of soup or Caesar or mixed green salad was also offered. To finish off the meal, I had lemon sorbet and a decaffeinated cappuccino. All were very yummy. I was especially happy that gluten free pasta was available.

The server was very slow to show up at our table to take a drink order, and the place wasn’t busy. Two men at the table behind us were vaping and nothing was said until another diner complained, and the manager tried to deny that it was happening. My pasta was so overcooked that it literally fell apart when I tried to take a forkful. The meatballs were mostly bread and tasted stale or old. Overall a waste of money.
